Zbrush always says "Subdividing tool ... 4.6... million polygons"

So a client sent me a zbrush file that is 61 million polygons. I need to export it to OBJ so I can CNC it. But it’s too big. There are no lower subdivision levels, so I used remesher on all 109 subtools to get a single file ( I need to pose it still first). I did the remesh at a lower resolution then Sub’d to a higher one. It went to the higher resolution, and then I re projected. Visually it looks correct, but still says it only has 289,055 total points. And when I do most commands now, it says subdividing geometry into 4.64… million quad- something or others. Which is what it did the first time when I went to a higher Sub’D level. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I’m guessing it might have something to do with Dynamic SubD or frozen SubD levels.

I’m not sure about either of those things, my Zbrush experience is only converting files or sometimes bringing in an OBJ to smooth it out. I will look into that and see if that helps.
I think it may be a bug, but I could be wrong. When I do a remesh, it should have only 1 subdivision level I presume. But After I do the remesh on the new subtool it shows there is a higher subdivision level. So I clicked it, which I think is where I went wrong. I should’ve used the Sub divide button instead. But I thought the Higher would be greyed out when creating a new remesh. So not sure if I did something wrong, Zbrush bug, or a combo of the two. I did get what I needed, but it took a lot longer than if someone who knows what they’re doing were on it.

Edit: And thanks for the insight.
