ZBrush 64 bit advice please

Im looking to update my workstation in the near future and I am considering a 64 bit system to make use of the extra RAM that will be available.
Many times I have tried to increase the level of subdivision in ZBrush only to find I am limited by the 3GB on a 32 bit system.

However I cannot afford to upgrade all of my apps to 64 bit versions and I have heard that some 32 bit programs can have problems on a 64 bit system (Adobe Premiere for example can have codec issues).

Does anyone have any thoughts experience or advice regarding ZBrush and 32 vs 64 bit set ups?

Thanks

There is no 64-bit version of ZBrush. I bought Win7 Pro x64 two months ago and have been running ZB 3.1 on it without problems. 3ds Max 2009 also works perfectly, as does the Adobe CS4. I’ve only had issues with one application and it’s not even a critical or work-related app.

Quicktime has a dumb quirk where you can’t see the time slider in a 64-bit environment.

Thanks Dustin…good to know…
I think Apple’s contempt for Windows users grows on a daily basis!

Zbrush is not 64 bit today, but running it on 64-bit systems has some advantage. You can get a full 4GB of ram (give-or-take a little :D) to ZB when on a 64-bit. In general, if you have a 64-bit OS, and you want to maximize ZB, have at least 6GB of RAM in the system. If you’re anticipating GoZ (which lets you jump back and forth between programs) at least 8GB RAM will be advisable. (I go back and forth with Photoshop a lot myself. Hence I mostly have 8GB or better systems for my personal work.)

Thanks Kerwin…thought that was the case
ZBrush just loves that RAM doesnt it?
