Hi guys, somebody knows when ZB 5 will come out ?
It has not been mentioned.
Forget 5, give me QRemesher!
QRemesher + PTEX = Endless love!
+1^
Have there been rumors of PTEX coming soon (before ZB5)?
That would be sweet.
Forget Qremsher. Its a paid for plugin. I paid my investment into Zbrush… I see no need to pay more money. :td:
Is this going to be a new trend with Zbrush? Will Zbrush 5 be a full paid upgrade?? I sure hope not. What made Pix different was that they did not nickle and dime the user to death like every other package out there… Pix, say it ain’t so…
Yes we would have to pay for QRemesher, but being a plugin from a 3rd party developer I think this fair enough.
If ZB5 was a free update I would absolutely astounded.
ZB5 will be a free update. ZB4 was. This is Pixologic’s way of business. As for the plugin being 3rd party, I had not realized that. I take back my fear. 3rd party developed plugin’s, like 3rd party training, I have no problem paying for.
Me too, unless first time sales are still strong enough to justify freely giving away what is likely to be a major upgrade sporting some highly desired features, such as 64-bit. At this point I’d be more than willing to pay an upgrade fee if much from the wish list thread were implemented, particularly Ptex (seamless displacements, hoorah). I don’t mind the continued tradition of free updates either though lol.
3rd party or not it’s a feature I need in my workflow.
It’s not a question of Pixo charging or not. It’s a question of whether or not the price of the tool is worth the value to your workflow, professional or hobbyist. Every feature and tool doesn’t have to be free or cheap. Yeah I realize it’s great for those who can’t afford to pay for higher end tools, but the reality is if a tool gets a job done and saves time and money then it should pay for itself no matter its cost. There are some great tools out there that are very expensive. There are also some great tools out there that are free of charge.
Don’t get me wrong I love Pixo’s sales model and I think it’s great. But I won’t boycott a potentially huge time saving feature that would quickly pay for itself over and over and increase my productivity.
I understand your point of view, from a professionals standpoint. I was just thought I would add my own personal concern. As well as bolster why I like Pixologic. For those on a budget, Zbrush is an Incredible buy.
Too true. I have high hopes for QRemesher will be a major time saver. Autopo in 3D Coat is good, but could still be a lot better. Topogun is pretty good when it comes to manual retopology IMHO, but emphasis really needs to be placed on the word “manual”. It’s insane how long it can take to retopologize a complicated mesh one click at a time, plus time spent readjusting and fixing mistakes. Combined with it’s puzzle like nature, it tends to really wear me out past a certain point. Plus it’s boring. So even if QRemesher only gets one 50% of the way there, it will still be worth the money, especially if it can do a really good job without creating a lot of tris and n-gons. The screenshot posted back when certainly makes one salivate lol.
Ptex and pixel painting please ^.^
