There is a patch for windows:
Look at your version number at the top of your window, it should say “4R6 P2” if not you need to upgrade, if you have the patch already or are on a mac go here:

Its the trouble shooting thread for 4R6.
I got sidetracked…
Thank you guys, this is a WONDERFUL UPGRADE!!!
Cheers!

I did a fresh install with the already patched version. I’ve posted some in the troubleshoot and submitted a ticket. I’m sure there will be some solution somewhere.
Thank you,

hey mrwhiskey ! sculpting some tiny crease on the mesh should force Zbrush to draw edgeloops following them. same method to avoid spirals on arms and legs. you can do that onto a copy of your mesh so that you try it out if it works.
Hey all,
Is there anyone here that would be willing to test out ZRemesher on one of our laser scanned vehicle models? As far as i can tell there isn’t a demo version yet and I’m really curious to find out how well it retopologizes. From what i’ve seen scouring the internet…all the meshes have been closed. Ours are generally not closed…usually single sided with holes and really ugly triangulation!!!
…would greatly appreciate anyone interested in helping!
Thanks!
If you want to be The Mage…
I think it’s doable Just share a model and I’ll do a remesh for you (please send a link in private message).
It really depends on your final output and what your current pipeline is if Zbrush is right for what you need. If you need help or extra info you can send me a message. I deal a lot with scan data to 3d printing.
Sure!
That helped! Thanks Nemoid
…
DOH! [EDIT]
This technique only works 1/9 times, and in the case of a pretty simple example. Oh well, it’s kind of a useful tool
I guess it’s such a cool tool that expectations are higher than normal. And when the promise is to reduce the most laborious and mind numbing part of a modelers task, it’s hard to keep a level head. But… this is really a crushing blow.
If there were a better way to force the algorithms hand into placing extraordinary vertices and closed edgeloops…
Hello!! Also enjoying this new release like everybody else here!!! Pixologic is awesome!
I have been testing the new features and I am impressed as always! But I have been getting an issue when using the Slice Curve with DynaMesh. In ZBrush 4R5 remeshing in DynaMesh with Groups active would produce separated bodies corresponding to each polygroup. In ZBrush 4R6 it doesn’t work this way anymore. The polygroups are created when using the Slice Curve, but remeshing doesn’t cause them to separate. Is this normal or is it me doing something wrong??
Thank you in advance, this is a wonderful community!!
Hopefully they’ll reach and improve it even more in the future ! it cannot be a 100% perfect one button solution now, but i think it will reach. Also i hope they’ll improve it especially for hardsurface meshes.
Every time when i think hm…they could maybe improve that or it would be cool if there is a magic tool for that or this and after some time like someone read my mind zbrush comes with magnificent new tool set.
This is amazing .you are the best …
Sweet! Best. Update. Ever.
Just installed the P2 update (which I didn’t even know was available, but found out about thanks to the helpful Auto Update script), and it’s fixed the one remaining minor annoyance which was polypainting not being projected onto newly Zremeshed objects. Now works like a charm! I can honestly say I will never model the same way again. From here on in, it’s model in ZBrush, Polypaint, Zremesh, Subdivide, Project, Export to Maya, BAM!
Quickest workflow ever.
Still coming to terms with the impact it has.
Thanks again Pixologic!
This is great to know. I thought it was me having problems with polypaint and projecting. I will try again now!
Yep, I couldn’t find any documentation anywhere on what the P2 update was, but this seems to have been one of the fixes (thank goodness!). If anyone DOES know what the list of fixes was, I’d be curious to see it…
Thank you once again! This is wonderful!

Just a great program, great company who cares, and just a happy happy time for me even with the chaos that is my life, ZBRUSH and Pixologic just make it a brighter world for me.
I know I am late in saying this but I turn around for a little while and bam new ZBRUSH for free again for all it’s users awesome. Best company I have ever had dealings with. I have never ever regretted buying ZBRUSH and I don’t ever suspect I will, did regret having to sell it though, so very much, but priorities smacked me in the face in my life and my husband will always be my first love. I did however have major withdrawals from not using ZB, and found so many times that I really needed it to get my idea across and out of my brain. Even though I did take the time to learn a few things like anatomy of humans and animals, and how to paint metals, rocks, and many other things in between the time of darkness to now lol. I am so very glad I am back on my feet, well sort of, but enough to get my beloved program back! And it is ever better than before soooo awesome! I always felt ZB was like a present but now I appreciate it even more. Thanks Pixologic!
I have no idea about ZB in 64 and what difference it would make since I am not that savvy on understanding between 32 and 64 except 64 is a higher number lol.
But would love to see ZB having lights that were a little more grab, drop, and move into the physical space of ZB to get full lighting effects like the sun, stars, and that sort of thing also glow, rings, and things like that. Don’t get me wrong love the put it in a panoramic pic and get lighting info, make your own light cap/MatCap, and all the cool post BP and render filters and adjustments, but I feel that with physical lights that can be used in the canvas would be great. That and a camera you could move around and be more attached to the timeline would basically make ZB the only program we would ever need or want for 3d and 2.5d.
Thanks again Pixologic for not only a free upgrade to wonderful program, and caring about all your users above all else, but thank you also for making a program that makes it so much easier to get those crazy things that run amuck in my brain out, and released into the world mmhahaha lol. Also thank you to all those programmer/users that made plugins and tools to show Pixologic exactly what we needed and wanted in ZB. I also thank you all that continue to make ZB even better your all awesome!
