Maybe I’m missing something or not looking in the right places, but it seems that trim brushes do not work symmetrically?
I know I can mirror half of the model, but is that the way to use these tools?
thanks

This is such an amazing development. It does such an amazing job on creating clean sensible topology… if not quite useful topology. Has anyone found a good way to avoid getting the never ending spiral edge loops? I tried making a very deliberate guide curve around the cylindrical part of this mesh but even with the strength set at 100, get the spiraling edgeloop.

This all looks like pure magic. Just trying to figure out what ZBrush is about and whether I should invest in it for hobby use, and I must say Zbrush itself, the community and Pixologic’s licence policies seem very inviting

I continue to think ZBrush was transmitted by some alien culture. First it appears to be a noise then it was discovered to be a code, it’s all very clear to me. it’s obvious when you sculpt it almost naturally turns into things that are out of this world.

I love the new features of 4r6, but I have had more technical issues in the past week than ever before within Zbrush. Reverting back to 4r5 till maybe another patch, release or version…:frowning:

There is a patch for windows:
Look at your version number at the top of your window, it should say “4R6 P2” if not you need to upgrade, if you have the patch already or are on a mac go here:
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?178981-Questions-amp-Troubleshooting-for-ZBrush-4R6-read-first-post-for-P2-Patch-instruction
Its the trouble shooting thread for 4R6.

I got sidetracked…

Thank you guys, this is a WONDERFUL UPGRADE!!!

Cheers!

I did a fresh install with the already patched version. I’ve posted some in the troubleshoot and submitted a ticket. I’m sure there will be some solution somewhere.

Thank you,

Berenart

hey mrwhiskey ! sculpting some tiny crease on the mesh should force Zbrush to draw edgeloops following them. same method to avoid spirals on arms and legs. you can do that onto a copy of your mesh so that you try it out if it works.

Hey all,

Is there anyone here that would be willing to test out ZRemesher on one of our laser scanned vehicle models? As far as i can tell there isn’t a demo version yet and I’m really curious to find out how well it retopologizes. From what i’ve seen scouring the internet…all the meshes have been closed. Ours are generally not closed…usually single sided with holes and really ugly triangulation!!!

…would greatly appreciate anyone interested in helping!

Thanks!

If you want to be The Mage…

I think it’s doable  Just share a model and I’ll do a remesh for you (please send a link in private message).

It really depends on your final output and what your current pipeline is if Zbrush is right for what you need. If you need help or extra info you can send me a message. I deal a lot with scan data to 3d printing.

Sure!

That helped! Thanks Nemoid :+1:

DOH! [EDIT]

This technique only works 1/9 times, and in the case of a pretty simple example. Oh well, it’s kind of a useful tool

I guess it’s such a cool tool that expectations are higher than normal. And when the promise is to reduce the most laborious and mind numbing part of a modelers task, it’s hard to keep a level head. But… this is really a crushing blow.

If there were a better way to force the algorithms hand into placing extraordinary vertices and closed edgeloops…

Hello!! Also enjoying this new release like everybody else here!!! Pixologic is awesome!

I have been testing the new features and I am impressed as always! But I have been getting an issue when using the Slice Curve with DynaMesh. In ZBrush 4R5 remeshing in DynaMesh with Groups active would produce separated bodies corresponding to each polygroup. In ZBrush 4R6 it doesn’t work this way anymore. The polygroups are created when using the Slice Curve, but remeshing doesn’t cause them to separate. Is this normal or is it me doing something wrong??

Thank you in advance, this is a wonderful community!!

Hopefully they’ll reach and improve it even more in the future ! it cannot be a 100% perfect one button solution now, but i think it will reach. Also i hope they’ll improve it especially for hardsurface meshes.

Every time when i think hm…they could maybe improve that or it would be cool if there is a magic tool for that or this and after some time like someone read my mind zbrush comes with magnificent new tool set.
This is amazing .you are the best …

Sweet! Best. Update. Ever.

Just installed the P2 update (which I didn’t even know was available, but found out about thanks to the helpful Auto Update script), and it’s fixed the one remaining minor annoyance which was polypainting not being projected onto newly Zremeshed objects. Now works like a charm! I can honestly say I will never model the same way again. From here on in, it’s model in ZBrush, Polypaint, Zremesh, Subdivide, Project, Export to Maya, BAM!

Quickest workflow ever.

Still coming to terms with the impact it has.
Thanks again Pixologic!

This is great to know. I thought it was me having problems with polypaint and projecting. I will try again now!
