Zbrush 4R3 - What happened to InsertMesh?!

Hi all, I noticed that now the function “Insert Mesh” is no longer a brush, instead there is a button in the Geometry palette… The problem is: how do I insert a NEGATIVE mesh now? Pressing ALT does nothing, so how do I tell zBrush that I want a negative mesh?! :confused:

It’s there for me.

Try hitting “b” to bring up the quick pick brush window,

Then hit “m” to display only the brushes that start with m;

it’s called “MeshInsert Dot” (not InsertMesh; I know, inconsistent :))

If it’s not there check in Lightbox>Brushes>Insert, there should be a copy.

Also you can use any of the predefined insert brushes,
go to Brush>Modifiers>Insert Preview and click it to change the mesh.

Same thing here… works with Dynamesh though

Hi Run, sorry maybe I didn’t explained the problem very well… I know that you can use “Mesh Insert”, but the problem with that is you must manually scale and position the object you want to add/subtract. The “Insert Mesh” button in the geometry tab has the advantage to place the tool in the correct position and scale as it was stored.

Still, you can only add to you dynamesh, you cannot subtract it…:cry:

Yup Rikk that’s currently my main frustration with ZBrush too.

In theory the “Add”, “Sub” & “And” buttons in Geometry>Dynamesh should let you do exactly what you want,
but they’ve never worked correctly. There were multiple forum posts about it when 4R2 was released,
but no fix in either 4R2b or 4R3.

I added a post about in the “Questions and Troubleshooting for ZBrush 4R3” thread the other day
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?166719-Questions-and-Troubleshooting-for-ZBrush-4R3

but haven’t seen any official response. Maybe there’s never been a bug report filed for it, I dunno.
