***** ZBrush 4R2b - Launched! *****

I see that now. I was so hung up on everyone talking about getting an email I was looking there. If I would have just read the posting I would have not looked so stupid

Thanks.

Yep yet again I get the best of software in an exciting new update, been doing this since 2002 and all updaters have been free, that’s got to be the best in customer service yet.

Downloading and installing now! Woooha!

With the introduction of QRemesher, I wonder if this will be the end of free updates or at least free plugins for ZBrush? I realize that Pixologic needs to introduce some sort of micro-transaction system in order to offset lost revenue due to free upgrades, lets just hope they are at an reasonable price point. A $60 price tag would be a great price for freelancers, students and small studios.

Thanks for the info mykyl. I“m looking forward to the QRemesher tool.
I’ve tried to create new topology in other software but the process in itself is so boring (for me) that I’ve never finished a project to this extent. Also bringing the model from ZBrush to other software sometimes gives problems.

Hopefully this tool is as friendly as it can be, to bring some of my characters to life.

Thanks Pixologic for this update!

From the description I read, it sounds like something similar to what 3D Coat can do. It will be really interesting to use the ZBrush version and see how it stacks up against the competition. I find myself wondering if Tomas Pettersson has anything to do with the QRemesher project given what he posted a long while back.

No way, I reported that in the troublesooting forums.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I too am having the deactivation glitch, when I go to the website and input my email it says its wrong…it isn’t! Tried it sixteen times using every address I ever had (all 3!) Oh well, guess I’m one of those who hasta wait, C’est la guerre!
Yes, I know, go to the thread…I will , I will. But reading the posts above I don’t know if I wants to. Sure, I’m hanging out to use the fur and stuff, but I already have enough bugs just for now. Can’t sculpt in perspective? Mmmm, do I need that? I got other problems, such as: can’t scroll a menu which is in the side dealie thing… not the shelf… the other thing. Also, since day 1 I can’t put the Edit/Tool/Undo button anywhere like on the shelf, coz it just stops working, sometimes instantly, sometimes not. Also, in 4 & 4r2 I can’t save a config file with my fave brushes on the shelf, at least half don’t return, like smooth stronger etc, don’t matter what folder they’s in. And crashes! boy I get crashes. Usually when I ask it to do something hard or which I seldom do, it just blinks out. Dead. Yeah, I know, make a ticket! Hey, I just needed to vent, thanks for listening… well, figuratively at least. But don’t you hate Cleverbridge? What a bloody nightmare system of activations, deactivations, remembering numbers and addresses and generally jumping thru hoops to prove we didn’t steal the thing. This, for me, is the only thing Pixologic really got wrong. I love Pixo, they are an amazing group of talented people led by a true genius, but Cleverbridge? yecch! What a bunch of nazis! The Irony, of course, is that those who really did steal the thing don’t have to go through any of this crap! And it ain’t hard, I heard 4r2 was on the net the very next day after I installed my legal version. And none of those people had to bother with websites or numbers or activation glitches. So what’s the point of it all?
But whadda ya gonna do? Despite these things I am still addicted to Zbrush. I’m constantly Zbrushing when I should be working. I can’t help it. I don’t post most of what I model, coz I can’t seem to get much texturing or posing done due to crashes, losing my symmetry, or some other dead end, so I just go on to the next model. I’ve done several species of dinosaur, animals, male and female models I’m quite happy with, including a passable Angelina and a decent Adolf Hitler as an old man (long story, but no, I’m not a fan!) and a rather good horse among many, many other things. Several Gigs worth in fact. Theres no end to the fun and the learning, and by the time you nearly work out what’s what, theres a new version with awesome new things to try. Of course I’m gonna have the new version installed in the next couple of days, I’m hooked. Maya & Max are very useful, particularly if you’re having trouble getting to sleep, but for an artist, theres only Zbrush, long may it reign. Good luck everyone, hope you have no probs getting running, but its time to sleep now, better fire up Maya!

Thank you for this update!

for some reason my zb4r2b worked without activating till about the 3rd restart. the license at the top were 4 filled circles ':stuck_out_tongue:
its activated now though.

rly impressed with the fibre addition , would like some more info about the other additions though

also qmzsher is good news , might get rid of reoccuring complaints about topology tools

Why do you need to have zbrush 4 2r2 installed before you can download this 200 mb update? I thought the last version was around 200 mb?

Can someone help me out here, where do I find tutorials on how to work with the new Fiber Mesh?
Thanks!

go to new pages on the left side menu , marcus civis is adding info on the new features, but they arent linked on main page yet.

Sounds like a very useful update! Looking forward to trying out the new features. I’m also wondering if the layer brush been restored to it’s original glory. I swear it doesn’t work as good as it once did. It’s not as smooth around the edges as it was in earlier versions. Very noticeable imperfections on the edges.

have a feeling ZBC will be a scHAIRY place from now on after 10 years of looking at bald women :confused:small_orange_diamond:confused:small_orange_diamond:laughing:small_orange_diamond:laughing:

You don’t need to wait for the email. Assuming you have ZBrush 4R2 installed you can simply download the Updater from the Download Center. See the initial post here in this thread or the announcement on the Pixologic website.

If you never upgraded to ZBrush 4 you will not receive an email. You will instead need to submit a Support ticket.

4R2 was about 350 MB to download.

The installer for 4R2b that is available in the Download Center will not install everything ZBrush needs to run. It only installs what has changed from 4R2.

If you do not have 4R2 installed and do not have the installer for it saved on your system, you cannot use the Updater. Instead you will need to submit a Support ticket so that our staff can get you upgraded directly to 4R2b without an Updater.

Thanks Pixologic. You BEST!!!

Well done on this guys!!

Great to see fibres in ZBrush at last!

I am just a bit disappointed that after all these years of waiting for decent re-topology tools, these are going into a purchasable pluggin. :frowning:

However, if QMesher is not too much money (I have 5 people to feed in my house, and not a lot of money) then I will be happy as I just know it’s going to be amazing. After all I have had free upgrades for all these years.
I just hope this does not set a precedent for future much needed features.

Mark

where does installer for 4R2 need to be placed for all of this to work properly?? seems like all necessary steps to upgrade are not so obvious. peace
The updater is hanging up when trying to patch zbrush.exe …
