I just setup 4R2 and all my shortcuts, but I noticed that all of my old alphas (most of which are 16-bit grayscale PSDs) don’t have thumbnails in lightbox anymore. Furthermore, when I try to load them into the alpha palette from lightbox they don’t seem to work. Importing them doesn’t seem to work either. But all of the default zbrush alphas work, and my old 8-bit ones do too… just not my old 16-bit ones (which for the most part where created right from Z4 alpha grabs)
Actually, digging a bit deeper, I went back to old document, grabdoc’ed the alpha, exported, and tried to load it through lightbox and am having the same issue.
Same problem here. Posted a couple of days ago with no answer neither…

I experience with the same problem with importing psd and tif files and
Also can’t produced texture from masking By using New from masking.
And Alt+ click to canvas to bring the mesh full screen doesn’t work in Zbrush 4 R2.
Seems any 16bit greyscale PSDs larger than 512 won’t load. That’s why I think some people see it, and others do not.
Edit: After further forum surfing I found this thread:

Thanks! You’re great.
The information is very useful. 512 map is much greater than no map at all
Marcus Civis posted a fix for this.
“Try setting Preferences>Performance>Preload File Size to its highest value and try again. Note that I don’t think the new setting will store with the config.”
