Zbrush 4 UV Mapping? Masking? Spotlight? For a Sweater? Say whaaaaat??

Hi Guys,

Im fresh new to the forums and I literally just signed up. Dont speculate too much because I have seen all the beautiful work people have created for weeks but never bothered to create an account. hehe.

I need advice or help on how to do the really hard…A bloody sweater.

I have a vein on my head thats about to pop. I spent accumulatively about I don’t know 4 hours trying to recreate the general texture of a sweater.

Here are just a few lovely examples

Here is one

Done by a Artist named Duncan I think with Zbrush

and I might aim at something like this for example

More or less maybe wider layers

See the stripes? and see how they are neatly aligned against each other. How do I recreate that? I tried masking, too messy. I tried Spotlight, and no deal :frowning:

I know for the smaller texturing, I could create an Alpha, or import an image into Spotlight, but if you guys have easier suggestions, please advice me

I looked all over the internet. I mined the internet for a tutorial, a step by step yet really nothing. The closest thing that I got to was a 5 comment thread in another website asking the same question. Didn’t really thoroughly cover anything and all I perceived was “blah Blah UV Mapping, this and that and import”… I know there’s clothing tutorials but they only cover basic principals that I know like wrinkles and t-shirts.

Now I know the texturing can be done with spotlight, but Im specifying at the layers. If I can map it or something

Anything you guys or ladies suggest? anything? Tutorials? Common sense? or a link to what I need or a step by step?

By the way I have no 3rd party, or parent softwares to import or export

Thanks Guys, much appreciate it.

Juan
