***** ZBrush 4.0 Unleashed!

There is!

Support site is back up!

Z4 is now listed in my version settings, hopefully that means i’m in queue

Got my email. THANK YOU PIXOLOGIC! still can’t believe it’s free! won’t believe it until I start ZB4

yeah, they’re a little weird, but we’ll get used to them i guess. I’ve noticed a little bug– when i try to hide my model (ctrl+shift) while working on a layer the polypaint gets all messed up (at least for all other layers except the one I am painting). Is anyone else getting this? Also, any word on the backgroound remover feature in spotlight? I can’t seem to find… it would be too bad if this feature did not make it…

can anyone confirm its deffinately not 64bit as above link suggests it is.

Yeah, paint layers are listed. Good!
Now has anyone tried to see if the bug in the StandardSculpt brush is gone? The dots when you fast stroke on a mesh, that bug.

That’s really not a good way to do it. There may be some old files left over still. The best thing to do is to delete GoZ from Maya, close Maya and then also delete your Users\Shared\Pixologic folder. (The exact path depends on your OS.)

Next, launch ZBrush and go to the Preferences palette. In the GoZ section there are options for reinstalling GoZ and setting up the path to Maya again. This is covered by the PDF included in your Documentation folder. This will create the Shared Pixologic folder again and reinstall the Maya-side plugin. You should then be able to run GoZ fine.

The PDF in the Documentation folder explains how to have ZBrush reinstall the GoZ components in Maya. It has a very good section on GoZ.

That’s not a bug. It’s a design feature, meant to help you create randomness in your organic sculpts without having to change settings. The faster you move the cursor, the more spaced out the dots that make up every brush stroke will be. For smooth strokes, draw more slowly. For super smooth strokes, activate Lazy Mouse.

For me it’s the Move Topological brush. The most underrated feature. It’s a big productivity boost.

So what do you guys think? What’s the most underrated new feature in 4 for you? Save your opinions on the most overrated feature though. Let’s keep this thread positive.

is any other Mac OS X (10.6) user having trouble with z4 crashing a lot? I’ve been using it for 3 hours and had at least half a dozen crashes… particularily when using the newer features (polypaint layers, timeline and spotlight).
Maybe it’s just me and my comp being too old, except it really isnt that old (just over two years). it’s a 2.4 Ghz core 2 duo, 2 gigs RAM with 256mb ATI radeon HD2600, 24" imac.
Besides, it sure didnt crash that much with zbrush 3.2
Are windows users getting this too?

I have had a single crash so far but not tried the tools your talking about. will give them a twirl and see.

Cheers

Mike R

Are there any videos showing the new clay brushes?

Also, is the BPR fast?

I want to thank Pixologic for their amazing efforts to provide artists with such amazing software. I’m waiting for that upgrade email. I can’t wait!

Yay! I’m installed and running.

Only just started, but hit a problem already. I have both Cinema 4D and modo installed on my Mac (OSX Leopard). GoZ in ZB4 never allows me to go to modo, it sends the model straight to C4D. This wasn’t an issue with ZB 3.2, there was a dialog that let me choose.

I’ve tried closing and re-opening ZB, and having modo already open. No luck.

Any suggestions?

edit: another problem. Cinema (R11) doesn’t recognise the texture - the path and filename are shown correctly in the material displacement, but I get a texture error on rendering. Hmmm, stumped.

Thank you, all the people at Pixologic for your hard work and long hours putting this “free” upgrade for ZBrush together…it is much appreciated.

Hi aurick,
thanks. Unfortunately this didn´t work (I wasn´t able to set the path for Maya again - I chose it manually but that didn´t have any effect - the program told me that the location for Maya is unknown.) As nothing helped I decided to uninstall ZBrush (deleted the folder (Mac)) but didn´t deactivate the program beforehand (I thought that wouldn´t be neccesary as I wanted to install it again on the same machine and not on a different one).

I tried to enter the same activation code again but ZBrush told me that it is not valid (I activated it a couple of hours ago with exactly that activation code) - I wasn´t able to do the web activation again as there is again that server error telling me that mails can´t be sent…

“Never change a running system” - I could eat my hat… It just worked with the way I changed the call of the script in Maya and now I have a total mess and can´t use my ZBrush any more as I cannot re-activate it again…

What shall I do now?
:frowning:

Thanks
Marco

I did all this on Zbrush and no i cant get the Goz Folder (Users\Shared\Pixologic folder) back where it was again. I thought it was supose to be restored by zbrush like other apps do.

The Force reinstall button does not work. I get a blank window when doing it.

I get this error message " <meta name=“qrichtext” content=“1”><meta http-equiv=“Content-Type” content=“text/html; charset=utf-8”><style type=“text/css”> p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; } </style> <!–StartFragment–>// Warning: line 214: fopen: unable to open file “/Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZBrush/ZBrushPath.txt” for mode “r”. // "
<!–EndFragment–>

@marcotronic it still works i had same error before you need to push request new code, then go back and push the button again 3-4 times untill it shows up.

You get that message due to the high server traffic i assume.

Anyone know if I’m going to have trouble running Z4? Still using my old P4 with 2 gigs of ram on XP.
