ZBrush 4.0 Purchase and Upgrade Schedule

I wonder if the first email will go out 11:12:13 p.m. PST

Think a little grace is due, no? They are doing a dual-platform release, with a release date for the first time ever right? On top of which it’s free… I see several consumer victories here that wreak of good will from Pix. I feel to respond in suit.

Hey come on folks.

The people that are being critical of the release having not been released yet are being very unfair to Pixologic. Well for starters the upgrade is FREE. Now I find that in itself utterly amazing. I have two music software programs that are updated. One is updated yearly and the other every two years. The updates cost a lot.

I don’t think that the complainers here will lose their jobs if it takes a week or so to get the update.

The Support information is quite clear, and I hope I am permitted to quote. Pixologic, please delete this if I have said to much.

If you currently have ZBrush 3.12 or higher: Just watch your email! Upgrade instructions will be sent to the email address on record for your account. Those instructions will be sent in batches, beginning sometime on August 9, 2010. The customer order for these batches has been randomized, so everyone has an equal shot at being in the first batch. Of course, you could also be in the last batch, so please do not panic if you do not receive your instructions until later in the week. It may take until the weekend to get all batches sent out. We will update these instructions once that has happened. If you currently have ZBrush 3.12 or higher: Just watch your email! There is other information there about earlier versions etc, which I won’t quote.

I am not professionally involved in computer graphics, so of course I am looking at the situation very much from my point of view. If it takes a week or so for me to get the upgrade then that will be fine with me.

KUDOS

To all the computer artists out there who post their artwork there, I thank you. Keep up the great work and best wishes to you all.

Paul, (one very happy Zbrush customer).

Super Glitcher,

Thank you…You are right…It seems as if I have lost the ability to wait patiently. I am like a 4 year old in a candy store.

Wow, you guys are some ingrates. Complaining that they haven’t yet released ZBrush 4 on the release date when the release date still isn’t even over yet. Back when we were waiting for months on end for any news about the release of ZBrush 3 – even just a status update – I could totally understand complaining about that. Heck, I was among those complaining. But give these guys a break. If they promise a release date and you need them to meet that release date on the dot for some reason, well… you shouldn’t have put yourself into a position where you need them to meet it so tightly. Stuff like this happens, especially in the software industry.

Wooo! I can’t wait for ZBrush 4. Today was like Christmas. First new Mac Pros, now new ZBrush

I can’t wait for my email so that I can download it and start learning how to use ZBrush

While I am not complaining, I do have something to say. If pixologic was charging for the upgrades (and I am very thankful that I they are not) would they be late like this ever? Why have a release date if you are not going to be on time? Is giving people a free upgrade giving them an excuse to live on thier own schedule? Again I am not complaining, I am just curious if it would be the same if we were paying for the upgrade. Any opinions?

The first thing I’m going to model with ZB4 is a Tickle-Me Elmo doll.

Yup, I am the most spoiled in terms of software, from Pixologic. First and foremost, I haven’t had to pay for any upgrades since I got it. I may be a little anxious right now, but complain? Nah, no way.

Here’s a more optimistic take… Pixologic know what is in zB4, and maybe they truly expect a huge number of new customers after the full features are revealed and the extent of what they have done becomes widely known. In that case, they would be making sure that most of us will have already upgraded before the floodgate of new users is opened up. I want to know what’s in there also, but not at the expense of getting it sooner.

TuSo enters the fray. looks around. Yawns. Been here done that. See you in a few days.

Maybe it“s a bet about how long we can bitch about the upgrade not being released yet. Let“s shut up for a while - radio silent for at least two hours, let anyone of the guys at Pixologic win (whoever it is - congratulations) so they could finally start sending upgrades.

Maybe we already upgraded

that image did not get posted correctly
eeds to be fixed.

All the upgrades …the day before the people became crazy and very excited!
Some…the few…are more relax…other evolution to agressive spech…hey friends stay relax and friendly waiting for the gem!!! It dont make sense to be agressive…:+1:small_orange_diamond:D

Wow, could you do MORE butt-kissing? What does the mud on their boots taste like? After that response of yours you must certainly know.

What so many of you fail to realize is that Pixologic is not your buddy down the street who owes you a free beer. They’re a company that makes a product that people pay money for. Some people have purchased Zbrush 4 a long time ago because ZB4 was supposed to be out over a year ago. This whole argument of ā€œthis update is free so we should kiss up constantly and talk about how Pixo can have our first born child!ā€ is so ridiculous I don’t even know where to begin.

I’m not on either side of the argument here because while I am excited for it to come out, and was hoping it would today and am sad that no new info even has come out, I’m not going to lose any work or any sleep over it. But saying that Pixologic employees ā€œdedicate their entire livesā€ and that people who speak about their disappointment have a ā€œrotten soulā€ makes you sound incredibly stupid.

I think that Pixologic should hire Muhammad Ali for sending the e-mails for their next upgrade:
Q: ā€œWhen will Pixologic start sending the e-mails?ā€
A: ā€œWhat? We just did. Wanna see it again?ā€

for crying out loud… Whats with all the apologetics?

I’ll reitterate my point once more.

  1. I am a very happy Zbrush customer
  2. I think its absolutelly fantastic to get free upgrades.
  3. I think its fair, even when its free, for people to either do what they say they will, or at least give out some information about whats going on.
  4. Not giving out information to people who have been waiting for this is, disrespectfull. It doesn’t matter how you twist or turn it. It really is.

I love Apple for making great phones, but it doesn’t mean they are above criticism for their customer policy.

Now… the reason I’m bothering to write all this is because it is 2 a.m. here in Norway and I’ve been refreshing the pixologic page routinely since they opened up about 8 hours ago… So I’ve got nothing else to do than sit here, sculpt a little and pay attention to see if something happens. And now I gotta go to bed… waaay to late for me. And that pisses me off. Quite frankly…

Good night 'foks good luck hitting that F5 button!
Hopefully there will be something there for me in the morning…
