ZBrush 4.0 Purchase and Upgrade Schedule

I am anxious about getting the e-mail, but am being patient. Pixological won’t let us down.

Any job dealing with computers (and/or the film industry), your day is done when the work is done, lol. Especially here in california. I highly doubt Pixologic’s day ends at 5pm, especially on launch days.

I won’t expect anything until before Midnight tonight, which is 7.5 hours from now.

I’m so happy! Wow… almost scared the heck out of me… a timely release. No way. Almost thought the corporate madness has marched in.

I think its a bloody disgrace. And totally disrespectful.

here is why:

They KNOW that everyone is waiting. They HAVE all the promostuff ready.
I don’t really care if I get ZB4 today. ZB 3.5 is more than enough for the rest of the week. But I’m superkeen to see whats in ZB4. And they know this!! They could so easily post a featurelist and a few videos.

Now if there was some kind of mess over at Pixologic HQ then they could’ve spent 5 minutes…Only 5 bloody minutes to enlighten the customers around the globe as to what is going on. Even if their internet went down, they could’ve used 3G or edge to go online and say “hey guys, we know you’re waiting. And we know we promised this today, but technical stuff makes it hard. Don’t know when we’ll have it ready”… that would’ve made it ok. ANY kind of info would’ve made it ok. We all love ZB and think the world of Pixologic for giving free upgrades. But just because its a free upgrade doesn’t mean they can disrespect our time.

I read a post for one guy who actually took the day off!! While that is slightly on the optimistic side, I still say “why shouldn’t he?” its been on the webpage for weeks now. Releasedate 08.09.10… there is very little ambiguity in that. If I tell my clients I’ll have it ready for a certain date. Then I better have it. Otherwise I’m out of business…real quick! Its only because they’ve grown so big that they can allow themselves to be this tardy. They know we won’t abandon them so they ignore our concerns in this.

Lot of posts saying to go chil out somewhere and wait, it’ll come. And sure, thats what we’re left with. However it doesn’t change the fact this is very disrespectful to the customers.
I mean… Not a single guy over at Pixo HQ could make it on to the forums to give some notice?
Is it one of those concert things where they whip the crown into a fury before they bring the band on stage? Is it on purpose?

It bloody annoys me!..

HeadCase, You are wrong. In business, whether it is free or not, if you promise something to your customers you better deliver or else you lose customers.

I have said this before…No wonder companies like Disney, Digital Domai nand Pixar are switching to Mudbox.

It’s really not disrespectful, it’s quite the opposite in fact.

Here’s why: When you and a group of people you work alongside dedicate your entire lives, and every ounce of your gift and talent to producing a technological marvel. Then believe me, those that are respectful will wait for you. The fact that you are not prepared to do extend your generosity in the face of such a gift is churlish in the extreme and speaks of rotten soul. It is amazing to me that so many here seem to think the universe revolves around them.

Go for it Pixologic, this day is yours and yours alone to command.

What you don’t understand is that I MADE A PURCHASE almost a year ago on the promise of an upgrade that I still haven’t seen.

If I got my original copy for free then I wouldn’t be complaining. I’d be kissing their feet.

I think it is hurtful to those who have recently bought zbrush on false promises from Pixo. A year ago people were buying it thinking they were going to get spotlight, and I dont think any apology was ever issued for the false advertising. I really hope Pixo does not do the same thing this time around. However, the day is not yet over, and I am really pulling to see the feature list we were promised for today.

And believe me, I know how lucky we are to get a free upgrade. I appreciate it just as much as the next guy. Thats why I bought my license in the first place. Because Pixo has super policy for that stuff.

And its not like I can’t do my work without it. ZB 3.5 is great no matter what. As I said in my e-mail, I don’t care if I don’t get ZB4 today.

And I know its probably hectic over there etc. etc.

But when you post a release date… and they surely know by now, whats in it. I still think its disrespectfull to keep people in the dark ALL day… really. Think about it. If I made an apointment with you to send you something, and I didn’t keep it. Even if that something was free. If you spendt your whole day waiting for it, andI never did send it. You’d think I was pretty rude. And you’d probably say that the least I could do was give notice that I wouldn’t have time to send it that day. EVEN if it was free. See… its about respecting other peoples time and having the integrity to stand by your own word.

Anyhow, let it be said, as my final words on this (I think) that I LOVE PIXOLOGIC!!! There… but that doesn’t mean they are above criticism. That’d be silly.

*edit: and by the way,my soul isn’t rotten…really. I just think they should keep people informed. :wink:

I’m a soldier in the US Army :cool: waiting is what I do best. The trick is to tune out anything you hear from those not in command. Not to say it won’t be a challenge. That Matchmaker utility looks wonderful.

So what if you made a purchase with less understanding than your own criteria required, it doesn’t mean that you pull strings upon these men. It is quite bizarre that you feel you do. Enough stupidity. Today is an amazing day.
