Hi Segomel.
Yes it does… see the first post on this link

Not long to go…
That is the question I had and that answers well enough for me. Thanks.
Layer Blend modes??? Does anyone know if Z4 will have Layers blend modes??
Yes, it will. I sussed out the answer to that mystery by reading Artesia’s post earlier in this thread. You see, he went to Siggraph.
He says, and I quote: “I confirmed with one of the presenters the presence of paint layers (which is what I was waiting for before I bought it, or decided to try mudbox) so I bought it.”
See: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showpost.php?p=711391&postcount=340 wherein I call attention to this (though nobody seemed to notice).
Or, see Artesia’s original post about it here: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showpost.php?p=710756&postcount=248
So it’s obviously a big YES on Layers for Texture Painting in this new version, at least according to Artesia, who attended Siggraph personally and got that confirmation verbally.
Did Pixologic just kill Max as a 3D modeling app? New version look absolutely amazing!
Thanks for that info too mate.
However it doesn’t really tell me if there is layer blend modes (multiply, overlay, etc etc…).
Is there anyone to confirm this? please
No, blend modes doesn’t finished it seems. Just opacity.

Also record button in layers… Hope it’s not so terribly as it sounds…
I’m disappointed… no blend modes…
Good news at least they are working on it.
Really, I am also excited about the new release, but that’s what I already mentioned before.
A lot of new gimmicks in every release that almost nobody really need or use, but still a lot of lack on the basic things that maybe everyone need everday and painfully miss since all that years:
So, what about Painting layers with blend modes, better and easier retopo-workflow without that ugly reimport-scaling-faults, a reference-pictures-feature that really works, better texturing workflow and handling, better UV-workflow, UV-free painting with infinite texture layers (like 3d-Coat already offers), voxel technology or similiar to get rid of the polygon-restrictions while sculpting with later automatic retopo-function to convert it into renderable objects, 3d connexion device-support and a lot more things like this.
Where are they in ZB 4 ?
Pixo does a great job with ZB, no doubt, and ZB is still the leading app for it’s purpose, but the others come closer and offer (like 3d Coat) sometimes better to use tools and features where ZB has untouched and therefore unsolved problems since years or is way to complicated with tons of workarounds to get simple things done.
So, I personally would really prefer a ZB4 that fixes the old problems, provides better and easier to handle tools with a smoother workflow in the target fields of sculpting, texturing and UV instead of pumping ZB again up with new (and maybe useless) features.
And I really, really hope that GoZ works halfway bugless and is especially able to handle changes in the polygon-count (that the import-function still denies so far). Otherwise, the only really big improvement would be nothing more than a variation of the current import-function with it’s well known restrictions (unchangeable Poly-Count).
what I’m saying is that it already works like this.I use it all the time, so how is a solo button a new thing?
I agree that to make Zbrush better it needs enhancing what it already has. When V3 and 3,5 came out, the first thing I did was check to see if previouse problems had been fixed, before checking out other additions. For me workflow, ehanced tools is what im most looking forward to. This of course would mean that GoZbrush is most likly the biggest feature im looking forward to work with as I have Modo.
To ballance things a bit here though, we dont actualy have the full feature list, so ZB4 cant be slamed for not having features we dont know will or will not be present. Also Pixologic has had to get both platforms ready together, somthing that they had planned years ago. At the same time it is a business, and your find this trend happends alot on software advancements, more features, less fixes and reworks over previouse features. Modo shows this trend by additions that realy dont work so great, while still having older features like painting lag way behind. The business is to get more sales, while keeping current users happy. Being that again! they have done this for free to current users, I dont think anyone can complain at all.
Currently if you have the visability of some sub tools off, say some accesories, then you Solo out a sub tool. When you turn that solo subtool off, all sub tools are shown which can be a real pain. You then find your self turning off the visability of certain sub tools again.
Now maybe, just maybe the Solo button remembers what sub tools you had the visability off, or on, and when you turn off the Solo button the subtools are shown as you had them before. Just speculation fo course.
Now what would be very handy is sub folders for sub tools, and most importantly! the ability to remove complete tools from Zbrush. The amount of time iv cloned tools, extracted parts, and wish I could remove old tools I no longer needed. This realy clutters Zbrush.
Oh, okay, then we are in complete agreement!
And to all that controversy in this thread, all I’d like to say is:
Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched!
Come on people, we don’t know about the real assets and drawbacks of ZBrush 4 till now. Why not just wait the few days more till we’ll see it with our own eyes and have our hands on it instead of complaining about problems that perhaps doesn’t exist.
Congratz!! <hr style=“color: rgb(63, 63, 63);” size=“1”> Did Pixologic just kill Max as a 3D modeling app? New version look absolutely amazing!
Where did you get the preview…?
Or just teasing?
Pixologic - please upload some new video so I can see all those disappointed screaming again senselessly “OMG! I LOVE YOU PIXOLOGIC AAAAAA!!!”. If I have to choose between this and whining - I prefer “OMG!..” thing…
No matter what they do someone going to have a complaint as everybody
has different needs. For me I just like to see the ability to create a true armature rig and some additional animation abilties beyond just turntables.
Do not need retopo as I got 3d coat.
Do not need layer painting got Body paint.
I just need the features they add or have added to work reliably. Right now you can not rig a figure or model. Ask Rastaman. So far all I have seen is videos. Tranpose is not the solution for posing. It is was a terrible solution as it is clunky and not user friendly. That being said I am convince the rigging thing is a challenge for the Developers so they simply implemented transpose as a stop gap. Still have faith one day they will get it solved.
And where are the promised movies ? Few days to go and not even sneak peak ? :td:
Lack of blend modes is big disappointment, how it’s one guys who makes 3DC can make them and Pixologic with all their money and people can’t ?
You are spot on guys, instead of gimmick features I would like them to simplify UI,simplify everything.
In all honesty I think Paint Layers is incredibly important in this version. I’ve not used Bodypaint much, but heard its become a pretty dated workflow (although some people can still do some really cool stuff with it, e.g. artists like Ian Joyner.)
Right now I use Mud…I mean the ‘app which must not be named’ for texturing - it’d be really nice to have a more refined workflow for texturing in ZB.
So long as there is a non-destructive texturing workflow, I will be happy. Although I hear that the new paint layer system involves hitting a record button, sounds like a clunky workfow, but we shall see.
All in all pretty stoked about the release!!

PS - Pixar partnered with Autodesk to get Mudbox Ptex compliant. Would be great to get this in Zbrush as well.
