Looks interesting, of course since no actual information exists…
It is however strange to offer Zbrush as a prize to people who already own said app… oh well, perhaps the logic will entice others as desired.
Brilliant. I am in before it starts. lol.
Might be my only chance at getting this amazing app.
Who am I kidding. AT least I will try.
Mike R
Hi Friends,
I too fell like Mr Belec.
It is strange to offer Zbrush as a prize when one already owns it.
Maybe a copy of “Zbrush 2.5”. Now that will get me going!
CAS
We’ve seen some amazing works here by users of the demo version – don’t count them out!
Meanwhile, I could use a platform crossgrade myself. Or one less christmas gift to buy. Or some extra money from eBay. Whatever!
Well since no info is posted, I am gonna guess its called Zbrush Contest for the prize and not the app you can use for it. Couple of other neat contests are listed there also.
Umm… 2.5 is going to be free to all ZBrush license holders. So winning ZBrush 2 is winning version 2.5.
Not only that, there are some people here who use ZBrush at work but don’t have their own license.
Hey - Additional Contest Prize;
A Wacom Intuos2 6x8 Tablet (Purchased and donated by Alp Altiner for this contest)
Does every ZBrush owner have a tablet?
Lol…well probably, but I’m sure there are a few out there that don’t yet. ;o)
AgentSmith
Hmmm well since you all have tablets and Zbrush then ya won’t need to be entering the contest which is good cuz I would need all the help I could get so if I am the only one entering at least I would have a 50/50 chance.
Ooo~ I’m interested! I use it at school so I’d like to get me a copy, lol.
2 questions:
-1 entry per person or can it be more?
-Can it be a current work in progress?
I love my Intuos2 6x8. It’s a great product, and works beautifully with ZBrush. That said… I didn’t know it was still available for purchase. It moved aside for Intuos3, did it not?
Edit:
Hey! Look! They posted info!
Edit Again:
“The dealine is February 14-2006. If there is no more then 20 entries submitted to this contest by December 01-2005, the contest deadline will be extented until February 14, 2006.”
So… If there are more than 20 entries submitted in the next three weeks, the deadline will be February 14th. OTHERWISE, it’ll be February 14th. Gotcha.
Edit Yet Again:
This is a cool thing they’re doing, it’s very generous, and you’ll learn a lot by participating. I make jokes, but truly all respect is given.
“This contest is open to any artists that do not own a copy of ZBrush. All countries are welcome.”
So does this mean that if you already own zbrush, you CANT enter? I hope not. Id still like to enter regardless… these kind of challenges are the only thing that get me off my butt and keep me motivated to get better.
Another question I have is whether the character has to be a full body character or can we get away with a bust?
Only for =non owners!=. Makes sense IMHO!
Good luck to all prospective owners!
LemonNado
Those who already own zbrush I think would have an unfair advantage. We cant save tools or open other alphas etc so it really has to be done in one sitting although I have tested and putting my pc to sleep seems not affect zbrush.
Cheers
Mike R
Seriously, some of the demo users have put full owners to shame. I think the discipline required works in your favor.
Discipline is the word. My only terror is losing all this work I have been doing as I cant save anything. Fingers crossed It will be alright.
Mike R
Fingers crossed didnt work. Hmm just lost loads of work so have to start from scratch. Any tips to avoid this again? Not fun when you cant save. lol.
Mike R
you can save a document I think? which means you can save layers.
draw out what your vision is…and think ahead about what you can model in one session, then drop to the canvas for all time. with proper planning you can model in parts on different layers and when done with each session save the document.
This way you don’t have to leave zbrush running or your computer, mem gets restored somewhat, you get to work with a fresh eyes at what has been done so far, and replan what needs to be done.
remember too that when items are dropped to the canvas they also have depth…keep this in mind when planning your layered assault on your project.
It seems there are a few unanswered questions about the Laborganika contest. I am a moderator of this contest and would be glad to answer any questions that you might have regarding this contest. [email protected]
The purpose of this contest is to promote Zbrush and make it interesting and fun for new users who do not own a copy of zbrush or have never tried it to give it a try and show their tallents. It would be imposible to think that every single person on this forum owns a registered copy of Zbrush.
<>The Deadline<>
• The dealine is February 14-2006. If there is no more then 20 entries submitted to this contest by December 01-2005, the contest deadline will be extented until April 14, 2006.
All countries are welcome!! Have fun! Happy Zbrushing ; )
Question that came up :
It says on the site… “Please keep your images no larger then 600x750. You are welcome to do it at higher resolution”.
The demo can only do 640x480 I think. No larger. Sorry for any confusions 640 x 480 is fine!
