Zbrush 3.5R2 frustration

Not sure if anyone else has this problem but when I open Zbrush it doesn’t center on my screen it’s off to the side…
How can I fix this?

Thanks for your help
Tara =)

happens to me, too. when i start zbrush right after boot or reboot it’s not maximized but somewhere smaller to the right… anyway, i found out (for me) to wait a little bit… must be some stuff isn’t finished loading or something… because after a few minutes (doing some stuff in my other apps) zbrush3.5r2 just starts fine…

dunno if it helps you, but me… i think it’s ok to wait a little.

chem!

I also had this issue upon my first few start ups of 3.5r2. I simply pinned it to my taskbar(in windows7) and opened it from there without anymore issues. Try launching it from the system tray.

That’s EXACTLY how mine opens up… Trying to wait and see if it opens up while I work in other programs… It’s a real pain… :frowning:

A couple of things to try:

When ZB opens wrong, right click on the Zbrush block on the task bar and close it (Alt-F4 should work as well.) Reopen ZB. This sometimes will clear the problem.

Alternately. Go to your Programs ->Zbrush 3.5R2 -> Zstartup -> ConfigFiles and delete the file named “ZBrushWindowStartupSize.CFG”. This is the file that store your past screen geometry.

I find this happens to me when I switch screen resolutions or sometimes in dual monitor setups where the monitors have different geometry.

I don’t have this file ZBrushWindowStartupSize.CFG" in my
ConfigFiles folder only file I have in that folder is called
b37kk2gdi.dat

I’d open a support ticket and include your display geometry. It sounds like there is some kind of bug that may affect only certain display settings.

Also, what is your OS? Is it Vista? Are you running ZB as admin? (The file I pointed you to normally gets created the first time you close Zbrush. It seems odd that this file isn’t getting created . . .)

maybe a zb3.5 bug - rather a graphicboard driver problem…

nvidia quadro fx with latest drivers on vista 64… maybe something’s loading for the card to give info to the system zb3.5 is waiting for… hmmm?

sunshine!!

chem!

I sent a ticket so hopefully I can get this situation fixed. I have windows Vista 64 … It’s a brand new system I can’t wait to get back to my work…

It would eventually center on the screen but not anymore…

 yes I use as admin

Could you let me know if you got resolved on this,It happens to me when I try to start to soon after booting up my vista64.I think its because of the defender and updates running at the same time.I have to close zb by r clickin tab and restart it to sort it…Always reloads fine second time.If I wait a few mins after first turning on system it also starts ok,probs only on immediate start after boot up.

Having this exact same problem about 40% of the time I open Zbrush 3.5R3…

Vista64, Nvidia 295 graphics card set to 1080p. Same problem, it happens at least 1/3 of the time; closing ZB and opening it again right away fixes it everytime for me.

It has happened to me a couple of times when starting ZBrush 3.5R3 but zbrush is now opening correctly every time. Not sure what has changed.

While the problem persisted I was going to try adding some script commands to the DefaultZScript.txt to see if it would help, but I never got around to it.

The modified …/Zscripts/DefaultZScript.txt file simply has an extra line which presses the window restore button twice and caused no problems while I tested it.

If you want to try the modified DefaultZScript.txt be sure to backup the original before extracting the .zip.

Also running Vista 64, 1920x1080, 1GB Nvidia card (notebook), 8GB RAM…

When it loads wrong, I have to use the task manager to force-close ZBrush, then restart… many times, it opens wrong again 2-3 times… but eventually opens correctly.

I also notice a version of a previous file (not always the most recent) I was working on pop-up on screen before it refreshes when I start ZBrush, even after a reboot. So some data must be in a cache or something.
