ZBrush 3.5, zpheres as subtools and crashing probs.

Was hoping for a lifeline to sanity with this.

Trying to make a model using zspheres. I started with the imageplaneX 3D tool (following the chapeter in the book Introducing ZBrush, by Eric Keller), applied the side and front view of my character as a texture and started using the spheres as subtools.

The problem is the whole thing crashes every 2 or 3 minutes. Since i am new to this i may very well be doing things in the wrong order or just making a very basic mistake.

Using ZBrush 3.5, on a G73Jh Asus lappy, with Win 7 64, with 8Gb of Ram, ATI Mob Radeon HD 5870 graphics card.

Is any of that enough info to get some help? I have also tried to find where i can optimise the way the program uses my hardware, the way i do with PS, but no luck.

Any help or tips of direction in which to search is appreciated.

Optimal ZBrush Preferences > Mem settings.

You do know that upgrades are free, right?

 I do indeed but the interface is already complicated enough for me and i am a real noob to 3D, so since i had already bought a book and a video series i just did not want to complicate things.

Thanks for that tip hint about the memory!

They’re well worth upgrading. The UI shouldn’t feel different from 3.5 to 4, and I think the newer versions will probably play nicer with newer OSs and hardware.
