ZBrush 3.5 Status?

[ATT=119497]crying_boy.jpg[/ATT]

OK…just like that…in the final days before the end of the previously stated time period…an announcement stating there will be a release announcement (not a release) sometime in the 3 months after? This is discouraging. Not meaning to be pushy but, any reasoning or explanantion Aurick? Or will we only get the “Thank you for your patience?”

Lol ! Well, at least Pixologic is consistent in never sticking to a release date

Since it’s a free update, I’ll be damned if I’ll bitch, but some new UV tools, and a more “photoshop” layer system might really be nice.

Course there’s no telling what Pixologic is actually adding.

I’d think going with 3d videocard support might not be a bad idea, and fully taking advantage of 64 bit processing would also be nice as well.

the current action hero contest requires a turntable quicktime movie; a feature the current version of ZBrush for OS X doesn’t have. so, i suspect the new release will be available before the contest ends (feb. 13), or else the contest rules for mac participants will have to be adjusted…

3 years later
Well, here it is - we just decided to make it Zbrush4!

Is it ring any bells?

If you’re smart enough to go there :
http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/zplugins/
You’ll notice that Turntable Plus exist for OSX …
… and you just have to install it.
I confirm it works !

Hi aurick,

Thank you for the heads-up… I just have to tell you, I like that Pixo is breaking the status quo on so many levels and dedicated to building the highest quality and most creative software on the planet. You’re up against the 800lb gorilla now (Autodesk, a.k.a Microsoft) so it’s not about rushing out releases with a new build number and the same “no innovation included” as the biggest feature. Pixo is going to do big things… look at the work on the gallery and how strong the community is still…

Looking forward to an SDK in C++, python, or whatever so we start to see a bit more community based feature development to add to the Download Center… scripted brushes like Maya Paint Effects would be kewl

Happy New Year Pixo and All!

Sounds about right for Siggraph 09, , then Modo update will be here also I rekon, who knows. One trend I see too often is more features getting added to software, while issues with current versions getting sweeped under the carpet while eveyone is compaining about the new bugs. Being this is a free update, it shows that Pixologic intend to make this app more solid, not just try to get new customers in from adding half done features.

If it takes till end of 2009, then it does. As long as it works how it should, and the current tools that need attention get sorted, it will be a solid release to look forward to. There has been some nice plugins made since v3 came out, so im greatfull for these.

I wish all the best to everyone, and the team at Pixologic for 2009.

apologies for my ignorance Michel. thank you for pointing out my mental handicap so politely… it takes smarts to do that.

Guess I’ll see you guys in about a year and a half.

Maybe I’ll be able to adjust my brush size with the bracket keys by then.

Brrrr!!! Is it chilly in here, or is it me?

"Hi,

The next ZBrush version is currently in development. Information about its release date will be made available 1st Qtr 09.

Thank you for your patience

Happy ZBrushing! and Happy New Year!"

Aurick this is absolutely outrageous!!!, this mac community has been led on so many times by you and pixo. i believe you made a statement saying there would be a big announcement q4 08, NEVER HAPPENED. We waited patiently for ages to get a mac version of V3 and now we got it we find its not even complete, and has a bug that actually stops us using it for what its was pretty much made for. i dont think you and pixo quite understand how serious this is, we are paying full price for a program which doesnt have the complete set of features, and does not work. HOW DARE YOU TELL US THE NEXT VERSION IS UNDER DEVELOPMENT, WHEN THIS VERSION HASNT EVEN BEEN COMPLETED!!!

you mean 2.5d painting!??

in all seriousness, calm down man… acting all outraged on the forums isn’t going to solve the problem. If you’re personally offended (as you obviously are), try taking it up via email w/ pixologic instead.

im not offended, but your right im outraged. unfortunately the forum is the only point of contact i really have with pixo, ive sent them emails in the past, and never had replies. i cant really phone them because im from the uk, n would cost a fortune. i stayed calm b4 3.12 was released, even when loads of others were raring up. however now this is just ridiculous. they got £400 odd of my money, n i cant even use the software properly lol its just insane. i know other people are in the same boat, and thats why its annoying me even more when we’re thanking Aurick for telling us the next version is in development. am i the only one who thinks thats just out of order. i know Aurick isnt personally to blame, but unfortunately hes our only active communication with pixo.

Pete we are all upset about the status of 3.12 and pixio has been generally good at refunding your money and pulling your activation license. Most mac users (myself included) are under the impression that the ZBrush 3.12 problems will not be fixed until ver 3.5.

The reason we are thanking Aurick for this information is that even though he doesn’t have to say anything at all about what is going on with status of ZBrush, he does.

Though you have not had much luck with getting an e-mail reply from Pixio I would suggest to keep trying as they do respond.

Best of luck sir!

Aurick is a godsend in there forums, and has helped almost everyone out at one point or another.

While I’'m not happy we are still waiting for new toys, I’m sure not going to shoot the messenger, or make him feel uncomfortable about posting untoward news in the forums.

Yeah it sucks that it wasn’t done for the end of the year. I’m sure the guys actually working on it weren’t happy about that either, and with the new mudbox released, I’m sure the higher ups at pixologic were not pleased either.

But this isn’t the first time a 3d utility update didn’t make an anticipated date, and I KNOW it sure as hell won;t be the last.

People stick up for Aurick because he’s always on top of helping anyone out in the forums quite quickly.

I’ve been amazed a number of times how quickly he had the answer I was seeking.

Just to pick up what you said about emailing Pixologic. From my experience it was like talking to a cold stone wall. I have written to them numerous times in the past for technical support and also to give feedback. All I ever got was standard cut and pasted replies that did not related to anything I said. I think it was designed to make sure that you lose your will to live eventually and just give up. It worked.

The only occasion that I got a speedy reply was when I got fed up and wrote to the sales team instead. That email got forwarded very quickly. Zbrush is a fantastic product (when it works) they should have a customer service that matches. We are customers, not needy beggars they sometimes treat you as.

I guess im one of the lucky ones then, Aurick/ Mathew has always got back to me fast, and sorted the problem at hand.

I got a tad fusterated when v3 took so long, this time im not going to let it get to me. I will have to just work with what I got, around what I can, and make the best of what does work well.

Beleave me iv hit some major problems in Zbrush that have completly brought my whole project to a halt, just gota look at the issues iv had/Have.

V3.5 will be here when its here. When would I expect it? Summer 2009. This date means nothing but a date in my mind, thats long enough for me to get things done.

Instead of waiting and complaining better do sculpting. The new version will not make you better artists.
