I have struggled way too long with Zbrush 3.5R3 normal mapping and rendering in Maya 2010 Mental Ray. I have read all, all posts regarding this issue. Tried everything, flipping R, G, B channels ( all switches under 3.5 Normal Map), redid UVs so they sit in 0-1 space. But nothing worked for me! In Maya, the model renders with jagged edges where there are sculpts. The normal map is generated, things look fine. But the smooth sculpts of subd level 6 (in zbrush) are just not there in Maya render. All this used to work fine with Zmapper and 3.1. There was one post by aurick where he suggests setting Tools–> Subtools–> PA Blur to 8 (or something), but that setting is not active for me. I have just one subtool with 2500 at subd 1 and 1 mil at subd 6. Very few sculpts - so this whole thing should not be that bad!!
So folks, please post with just one answer - are you using 3.5 or have you gone back to Zmapper and 3.1?
