ZBrush 3.5 R3 Material painting problem

Hello everybody, I’ve a little big problem: I’ve modeled my first head, following a tutorial, assigned a basic material to it and then started to polypaint it in RGB mode.
Now, the guy in the tutorial goes through the painting of an eye, and it uses the Toy Plastic material by simply unchecking the RGB button, checking the M button and then he starts to paint with that material as if it’s applied to the brush.

Now comes the problem, if I uncheck RGB, check M and click the Toy Plastic material, ZBrush applies the material to the whole head
One more thing that you might know is that the eye is not detouched from the head as a subtool, but is simply sculpted on the head (as it’s done in the tutorial). So I have one subtool that is the whole head.

How can I apply the material only to the brush so I can make JUST the eye in Toy Plastic??

After painting the eye with toy plastic, when you switch to another material the rest of the head (except the eyes) should switch to the new active material.

To make things a bit easier, you could try giving the polypaint a default material first so that it doesn’t just use whatever is currently active. Have M on, a material you want for the whole head, and then use color: fill object.
Then you can switch to Toy Plastic and paint the eyes.

Hi Cryrid, thank you for your reply! It was that simple! :+1:
I’ve solved the problem by just going to Color -> FillObject, switching to Toy Plastic and then painting with that material
