I still get this crash as well, at least once a day (if I am using lazy mouse alot).
Once a day? You’re lucky
Mine crashes at least once an hour when I’m using lazy mouse alot. I save about every five minutes. This has got to be one of the most annoying things in my life.
I have reduced the crashes somewhat by not hiding other parts of the model, or other subtools, while I use the lazymouse. But my anxiety level definitely goes up when the lazymouse is activated.
Edit: and I have 8 gigs of ram, so I doubt it is a memory issue but who knows.
I have just started getting these crashes. They will happen less if you don’t hide tools because its probably a line of sight thing. If a tool that is hidden is in the way of the stroke,… bang. For the time being try to set transparency on and avoid stroking through the tool that is in the way. You could also save out the subtool as a separate tool and import it into a new scene to work on it and append it later into the main scene when you are finished.
i wish it were something like that, i can get it to crash just on the default sphere after enough strokes.
i saw a video where someone got it after like 4 strokes with a alpha. i don’t imagine there is a workaround for this one.
Hmm. I was using it pretty intensely for hair and if I didnt stroke on the blind side it didnt crash zb.
Ah just did a test with a sphere and managed to crash zb after about 50 strokes. I redid the test and switched to normal mode around 50 then back and kept going till the ball was absolutely covered in slashes. I think it is one of those features that asks a lot of hardware. I think if you have a slow machine then this feature may be a bit much for it atm.
still have to disagree, in 3.1 lazy mouse never caused a crash, even using very dense models, this all started in 3.5 and even on low models it will crash. its a bug.
This is not a machine issue. I just got a brand new i7 12 gig beast, and I can get it to crash within a minute. It is a technique thing. I’m not exactly sure what I do, but I can get any machine to crash here at work (even people’s computers who claim lazy mouse never crashes for them). I’m the one who made the video a few months back that Spaceboy was referring to. I make a lot of quick short strokes and switch brushes frequently. Luckily, I have a pretty good idea when I am in dangerous water, so I save every time before I switch brushes or aply an alpha. I don’t lose much work any more, just the time it takes to save so often, and to restart zbrush. Anyway, I just wanted to let Pixologic know that this is definately NOT a computer specific issue.
I get this too and it’s freaking annoying. I made it a habit to save before I use it but sometimes I forget.
Resolving this bug should be a top priority.
