Get a PC. Get a PC. Get a PC. If I had a penny for every time I heard that, I could buy 100 PCs.
I’m so tired of the unsolicited/unwanted advice, and jabs at Mac users in these forums. It doesn’t resolve the situation. It only exacerbates it.
I haven’t said a word yet about this latest delay on the Mac version. I have been waiting very patiently, holding my tongue thus far. But, I lose my patience when people make ignorant remarks like this. By all means, enjoy your newest version of ZBrush, but please, don’t rub it in the faces of those who are still waiting for theirs.
Get a PC.
LOL
Thank you Pixologic for this excellent upgrade, you guys rock !!
A quick question… I accidentally hit “standard” setup instead of “custom”, will there be a problem with this if so how do I change it to custom?
Would I need to uninstall then reinstall?
(or is it better just to leave well enough alone?)
Other then my mistake everything went very smoothly.
Well, this seems to be a very friendly place
I´m, not crying - I do never want back an PC
I only want to get the things that were anounced when I bought this stuff -
Seems for a Mac user Zbrush is the wrong choice.
And when mac users got the first patch to Z3, PC users said the same thing…
NB, Zbrush3 runs fine under Wine/Linux…
While I sympathize with the Mac users, it also confuses me that they choose to stick with the platform, yet continue getting so emotional about the #1 most well-known characteristic of the platform for decades - bad software support. If you bought into the platform without preparing yourself to accept that drawback, then you made a mistake.
The way I see it, Mac users have GoZ and we have ZSpheres2. I’d call it even. Hopefully we will all have the same toys soon.
Thanks for the hint - There are several ways to run a WIN-only app on a MAC
Crossover - Parallels - Bootcamp…I have several possibilities. But owning a MAC license you do not get 3.5 even in the WIN version.
The Demo is still 3.1 (and BTW: a MAC demo is comming soon …)
Awesome model.
I would really like to see the basemesh
Actually PC users were cordially mute on the subject for the most part.
Some PC users have, and continue to complain that mac users got GoZBrush before they did. They’ve also complained when bug fixes have been late in coming. I don’t buy into this idea, or inference that only Mac users complain, and that only PC users are exclusively cordial. Why do PC users always like to turn this into a who’s platform is better pissing contest? I don’t want to have to defend my OS of choice, or put down someone elses OS of choice. It isn’t about my OS vs yours. It’s about customer service, and good communication.
Period. Not interested in getting in a flame war here with anyone. I’m just trying to patiently wait for the update at this point.
Geez I go away for a couple of weeks… come back and find another version released, way to go Pixologic!! Gah so much more to learn so lil time. Guess i’ll get around to downloading this one some time soon, looks extremely impressive as always. small_orange_diamond

I hope you’re not right. I am still hopeful that future ZBrush Mac and PC releases will be released concurrently.
Most software companies now support both mac and PC platforms, so IMO it’s a matter of priorities or a lack of them. 3DCoat supports Mac, PC and Linux and has one developer (Andrew) and he still manages to release all three platforms on a weekly basis so it can be done!
Most 2D and 3D related software companies release mac and pc platforms concurrently and it’s no problem. Modo, Maya, Lightwave, Cinema 4D, Blender, 3DCoat, After Efffects, Photoshop, Corel etc, etc, etc. IMO Pixologic is not the norm but the anomoly. Hopefully that will change because they really only hurt their reputation when they promise concurrent releases but do not deliver. Pixo makes a great product, it’s just their management and PR that really needs improvement IMO.
Wow! Another killer update so fast? I was figureing we’d be waiting through December, and then not see the end of quarter main final release.
This really has some killer features that make things much easier then before.
That said, I had the exact same activation issues… I chose web activation, deactivate R2, and that failed just lkike last time.
Fortunately, I know the new support system now, and within 30 minutes they manually deactivated R2, and R3’s activation went silky smooth.
Installation here was on vista 64, without running as admin, and worked flawlessly.
If they would build an auto deactivation for the old verison in with an auto activation for the new version, that might save them and end users work.
Now I have to see how many new tutorials there are for the new tools, and revist the R2 videos, to try a car like the one in the video.
This was a GREAT Thanksgiving day present!
/me can’t wait till open our Christmas prezzie now!
Kudos to the whole Pixo team! Enjoy your holiday!
Please submit a support ticket and include the exact text of the error that you’re receiving.
You can still Modify your installation through the Windows Control Panel > Remove Programs feature. That would let you remove unwanted plugins if you’d like. The only reason you’d need to uninstall would be if you wish to change where ZBrush is actually located on your system.
Thanks pixologic for this fab revised 3.5,I had a little try of it and playing around with polygroups and polish brush so far (Dont have much time to play today) and it made my day, thank god all the plugins are back (Except for zmaper but im not bothered.) thanks so much you guys ROCK!!!
Finally got my PC version up and running at work. Still waiting for my Mac version at home.
I have a couple of points after just opening up the software.

There are brushes missing from R2 to R3. I actually like using the Move2 brush and the MoveThin Brush. Why were these taken out.

The addition PDF files that you supplied with the installation are top notch. Well done.
Once again the features that you continually add are mind numbing. I absolutely love ZBrush. I sometimes complain about the release date issues and getting releases out the door for both Mac and PC but other than that what you offer is like nothing else on the market.
One more thing. PLEASE ADD FUNCTIONALITY FOR THE SPACE PILOT NAVIGATION TOOLS FROM 3DCONNEXION.
I can’t wait to dive into all of the new features.
See ya on Nov 5th in Vancouver.
I don’t have R3 installed at work so I can’t check right now. However, take a look in the brushes menu in Lightbox. A lot of brushes were moved there so that the brush menu wouldn’t get too cluttered.
