Zbrush 3.5 R2 Exporting Displace, Textures, Normals...

Hi, I was wondering, since the zmapper is gone, how do I export the Displacement, Text and Normal map? Any directions, picto-tutorials or video-tutorials showing this simple task is much appreciated. Thank you.

Use the clone buttons to transfer the images to the texture / alpha pallete where you can then export them.

Ah i see they changed things around. I have not been able to use 3.5 yet but thanks for sharing. Im sure this will save people a few min of searching.

Thank you Richard for sharing the know/how’s.
That will certainly save a lot of time to many people.
Is there any other tips technique you have that you are willing to share?
Anyone else? Someone that has a few minutes to spare and share a workflow?
Just so that will help others more. Thank you again Richard. Appreciated.

Can someone help me with exporting normal maps from ZBrush 3.5 please.

I clone the normal map using the clone NM button. but then I don’t know how to export it!

I’m so fraustrated!

@ehsun3d,

Go to your Texture tab and export the newly created maps.

I hope you didn’t think that I was that dumb that I couldn’t see the export button in the texture tab.

As I said the export button didn’t work for me and I found out that the problem was that, first I had to click [tangent] in the normal map tab.

I did hours of searching and finally I realized I better stick to ZBrush3.1 and its ZMapper.

Cheers

I’ve tried it countless times, but for some reasons after I hit “create displacement map” I get a flat grey map. It successfully finished processing the adaptive rays and all that, but I don’t get any details on the map : /

much appreciated if someone can help me out here!

Edit: Problem solved, sorry guys. I was being an idiot. I imported UVs from maya, but for some reasons zbrush failed to pick it up. That’s why nothing was being generated. Thanks anyway!

What is the different bbetween the normal map and the displacement map?

I know it’s moew extended but why do you want to export a displacement map?

Is there a way to preview your normalmap in zbrush 3.5 like it was in zmapper?
Or you can preview your displacement only?

No direct normal map preview in 3.5. Best to review it in your application.

Certain tools like xNormal (www.xnormal.net) can give you preview specific to your video card’s rendering of the normal map.
