Zbrush 3.5 obj. export world space and scale problems

I have been trying to export obj files out of zbrush 3.5 to bring back into maya to update basemeshes that where initially created in maya. However, there are new sliders in 3.5 from 3.1 and whatever I do, any obj exported from 3.5 that I bring into maya looses all its world space information. The scale has changed and the mesh is aligned to x,y,z 0,0,0 regardless of where it was before. Has anyone else had this problem and if so have they figured out how to solve it?

Also does anyone know if the smart resym feature has been re-written as it does not seem to get full symmetry on objects that 3.1 has been able to?

Thanks.

I am having the same problem.

I don’t know if this will help or not, but re import your OBj into ZBrush. Open up the Export tab for this Ztool.

Take notes on what the export size and XYZ offsets are.

Now go back to your ZTool that you were having scaling issues with and check the export values of that model.

If the values do not match then you could try to reset them by inputting the initial OBJ import scale and offset values.

This may or may not work, I’m just trying to point you to something that started to work for me.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Nick. From now on I will import and export with the .ma format, that seems to make everything seamless.
