**** ZBrush 3.12 - for Mac OS X - to be released on September 29, 2008 ****

There has been a problem while processing your delivery. We are already working on this technical issue and may be waiting for information from the software publisher, which may cause short delay. At the latest, this should be solved within 1-2 workdays, although it is generally much less. We will contact you immediately via e-mail upon resolving the issue and apologize for any inconvenience.

cool, so close, so close…

Since ZBrush 3.12 Mac Intel has been enhanced with new functionality, we will also update the Windows version to incorporate these new features, and make them available to the ZBrush Windows community. It is not unlikely that major additional features be unveiled at that time, and will be made available for both Mac and Windows as a free upgrade toward the end of year.

This will include support for those plugins (ZAppLink and Displacement Exporter, ZMapper will not be needed) which are not compatible with this transitional version ZBrush 3.12.

Does this mean no ZAppLink? and no ZMapper?

Now when they say “1-2 workdays,” does that mean regular workdays, or Pixoland workdays? Cause if it’s Pixoland workdays… well, that means we’ll be waiting 1-2 months rather than days.

Check your emails. I had two from Cleverbridge, the first included that error message but the second had a Download link far a file 54 MB in size. Wen I clicked on this link a disk image downloaded with the install.

j

Hey, jthair, did you actually download and install it then? Because so far I don’t see one person here who’s actually gotten a copy.

It’s 2008… LATE 2008… how do you screw up a download link? This stuff has been working for the general public for about 15 years now.

I think it’s an excuse of some kind, personally. I do know that cleverbridge is to be avoided at all costs in the future, if this is typical of their technical competence. That or Pixologic are frantically trying to fix some fubar with the app itself.

I’ve honestly just never seen this kind of run around with any software I’ve ever purchased before.

Just one mail this morning. I hope they do not forget to send the second mail with the link

Up to now the no information style of your company had the excuse of development delays. Yes your software is complex and non standard, yes Apple has made major changes on you in software and hardware, but, having finally released an OSX version, you need to become proactive with your Mac based and the problems you open your doors up with today.

A continuing policy of remaining quite at this point will only set in concrete the impression that there is a major problem in the operational underpinning of your company.

Allowing an hour for evaluation assuming your are all unaware of the install/download problem, you need to make a statement and remain active today in informing your base what is happening and what to do.

Exactly!

I wouldn’t hold your breath, folks.

This is Wednesday, and one or two ‘workdays’ to ‘fix’ the problem (assuming they’re capable - which I doubt), means Friday - and that’s getting into their weekend, which means maybe next Monday - but they’ll actually mean ‘Tuesday’ - sometime around the 29th of October - but they really mean the 30th -, etc.,etc.

And on, and on , and on… ‘Deja vu’ all over again.

Part of the problem is that there are currently three Mac threads running.

I DID make a statement to let people know that we are aware of the problem and are working with Cleverbridge to get it resolved. I made that statement in the “Now Available” thread, which I would have expected to be more active than the “Coming Soon” thread. :o

I am now closing this thread, so that there will be one less place to look for information.
