interesting question
i’ll add “reload textures” or “update textures automatically” to that question, as loading the same texture over and over is kinda boring.
be a ton of big picture questions i’d love to ask too but. keeping it tame : is it possible to arrange subtools now by simply dragging / dropping. and is the subpalette itself now fully expandable ( and size relative to the number of subtools in the list ) ?
I have one important question…
Are we still able to activate on two computers? I just downloaded it at work, but I do not want to install here if it’s going to jeopardize my having it at home.

My question to support about whether we can have it activated on both Mac and Windows has not received an answer.
Can we add layers on any subdivision level?
ZBrush 3.12 can natively generate normal maps.
Also, ZMapper is no longer required for things like creating normal maps with arbitrary meshes – one of the biggest reasons why it was created in the first place. That is now possible – and very easy – through the use of a morph target and ProjectAll. In fact, you have much more control and flexibility with this method, can use more than just two meshes, and you can also create displacement maps from arbitrary meshes. I’ll be posting more on this next week, but I’ve probably already said enough that some of you adventurous sorts will be able to figure it out for yourselves.

Thanks for all the great info Ambient-Whisper. Can you give your impression of the new project all feature? In 3.1 it seems to have more success if the model has been unified to the a proper scale that can catch all the detail (but then there are still those parts that fly way off).
Also, if you mask out an area does it not project on that area?
And one last question… Are the new smooth brushes any different than just tweaking the standard smooth Brush’s mod setting?

No plugins are included with 3.12. We held them back until we could thoroughly test each official plugin. Once they’ve been tested to ensure that they work as intended and no conflicts will occur, we will start rolling them back out with a stamp of approval.
Plugins that were released by other authors will need to be handled by that author.
Not all plugins will be able to be updated for 3.12. ZMapper is an example of this. It depends upon exactly what the plugin does and how it does it.
I’d rather have Zbrush without plug-ins NOW, than wait until they’re all fully tested and get zbrush next year… so I’m happy!

I have some questions!
Under Tool-Uv Map, there is now GUV Tiles, AUV Tiles and… PUV Tiles???
What are PUV Tiles?
Here’s another. Man I have gotten used to using the button to the left of my spacebar as my alt button in Zbrush on windows. Now on mac it is the button two to the left of my spacebar (opt) that holds this functionality. Anyone know how I can change this?
Love the gridplane! Love the UVmap, Texture Map, Disp Map and Normal Map subpalettes! Can’t wait for Zapplink, subtool master and transpose master.
