Hi guys, this is my first post, I’m just starting to use zbrush, and as I always work with Maya and 3dsmax, i find the Zbrush interface a little bit hard to get used to. Is there a way to configure the interface? I mean by this, set the camera zoom, pan and rotate like maya, ALT + left mouse buton to rotate, ALT + mid button for panning and the Mid mouse button scroll to zoom in and out. Is there a way to do this? Thx guys.
Your biggest challenge is that you’re trying to make a paint program operate like an animation package. The reason why you can’t find any settings to zoom, pan and rotate the camera like you can in Maya is that in ZBrush the camera doesn’t move. It is the model that moves in front of the stationary camera.
ZBrush’s camera is very much like the Photoshop camera. The navigation controls are built around that fact.
Also, ZBrush was created to be Mac and tablet friendly. You can do most everything in ZBrush with your left hand on the keyboard and your right hand holding the mouse or pen. Moving, scaling and rotating the model in font of the camera is all done with the Alt key and the mouse or pen. It does take a little getting used to, but once you do you will be surprised by how quick and easy it is to work with.
That being said, there is quite a bit that can be modified about the interface. Hard-coded stuff like the Alt, Shift or Ctrl key functions can’t be changed, but many other things can be. See the Interface Customization section of the online documentation. (The link is in my signature.)
Thx, I had some idea about that object fact that u were talking, also i can change the document size, like photoshop, thx for your reply for that. But anyways, i still find myself more comfortable using the same mouse shortcuts like maya, just because im more used to it, and find it more easy for myself, so i guess if the shourtcuts to move the object like in maya i move the camera isn’t avaiable i will have to stick to zbrush own shortcuts. Thx again.
