ZBrush 3.1 brushing problems

I just upgraded to ZBrush 3.1 from 2 and am having problems with sculpting. Basically, when I paint on my model it starts accenting/revealing the wireframe of the model rather than showing me the model as it is being deformed. Once I move/ratate/scale the model, it goes back to normal shading and shows me the brushing I had just done.

It’s incredibly frustrating to paint when you can’t see what you’re doing. Has anybody else run into this problem?

I’m running ZBrush 3.1 on a MacBook Pro 2.16GHz with 2GB ram in Vista Business. The graphics card is a Radeon x1600. And I’m using a Wacom Intuous 3 tablet.

Thanks in advance

i think i understand, try this.
Preferences, Performance, QTransThreshold up to about 2 or 3, that means 2 or 3 million polygons before it shows that lower level, you don’t have much ram though, so that may be too high.

I have a x1600pro and never had any issues, but it sort of sounds like Quick 3D Edit is off, something that should be on by default.

Without seeing a picture of what you are seeing, I can’t be sure, but I hope it’s this simple.

Go to the top menu “Transform”. In that menu, about 4-5 icon rows down, there’s an icon on the left that has a circle shape and the word “quick”.

Try turning it on, making the button orange. If it’s already on, who knows without seeing a picture.

Also note, when you have it off, you can apply dynamic smoothing, but you can’t paint because it won’t refresh it all until you move the entire mesh, like what you describe. The dynamic smoothing is controled in the display properties window under tools. When you turn Dsmooth up, it will smooth the mesh, but only when that quick 3d edit is off.

Also make sure that you’re running the most current drivers for your graphics card and tablet.
