ZBrush for iPad’s innovative UI design allows you to take advantage of Apple’s well-known, user-friendly touch capabilities. Pros and new users can easily use finger swipes and other gestures they already know to control common features such as draw size, focal shift, undo, and redo. Multiple Apple Pencil features can also be used for a more immersive digital experience that speeds up the sculpting process.

ZBrush 2025 Desktop Release Notes

Added :

  • GoZ support for ZBrush for iPad. This is intended to be a fast, easy way to share ZBrush files between ZBrush for iPad and other Apple or Windows devices on the same network that are running the desktop version of ZBrush 2025 and greater. Back and forth live updating may work differently than GoZ does for desktop apps. The Maxon App is required to be installed and logged in. The local network must allow device discovery in order for devices to see each other.
  • GoZ to iPad added to the GoZ section of the Tool palette. This allows files to be sent from ZBrush 2025 and greater on the desktop to ZBrush for iPad. The iPad app must be opened to the Import > GoZ menu before attempting to send to it.
  • Support for USDZ format added to the USD plugin.
  • MOV format added to movie export options for the macOS version of ZBrush.
  • Monster Clay® MatCap Brown, Monster Clay® MatCap Green, and Monster Clay® MatCap Grey added to MatCap Materials.
  • Monster Clay® Green, Monster Clay® Grey, and Monster Clay® Brown added to Standard Materials.

Modified :

  • Compatibility support for ZBrush for iPad.
  • OBJ export should now be much faster for larger files on macOS.
  • Movies now export in MP4 format on both macOS and Windows.

Fixed :

  • The CamView icon will again reset the mesh orientation when you click on it.
  • Fixed a crash when using the Knife brushes on high density meshes.
  • Idling with the Bend Curve deformer active could result in a crash.
  • Corrected a crash when attempting to run ZBrush on macOS while not logged into the Maxon App.
  • [macOS] Projection Master went missing from the Plugin menu for a time. It has been returned
    safely home.
  • Fixed an issue with the accuracy of reported file save times in the UI.
  • Corrected an issue that could prevent exported movies above certain dimensions from correctly playing back on macOS.
  • Image Plane no longer returns a script error on macOS when trying to use it.

We will be launching the major ZBrush 2025 release later this year, which will include all the exciting features that we have been developing!

ZBrush and Monster Clay - the Digital Twin

ZBrush Artist: Jorge Norgaard

Monster Makers and ZBrush have teamed up to revolutionize the digital sculpting experience with Digital Twin materials. These ultra-realistic sculpting materials in ZBrush perfectly replicate the consistency and malleability of Monster Makers’ iconic clay.

The partnership bridges the gap between traditional and digital artists by providing an unprecedented level of detail and control, empowering artists to bring their creatures to life with the same quality and precision they’ve come to expect from both Monster Makers and ZBrush.

The six Monster Clay materials (3 standard materials and 3 MatCap materials) are available in both ZBrush 2025 desktop and ZBrush 2025 for iPad.

Awesome release - Congratz to the team!!!:sunglasses::+1::star::star::star::star::star:!!!

Hi I tried zbrush on iPad, I really liked the functionality. But I have a question, how to change the canvas size? After exporting, the image is too small. There is no familiar interface for setting the document size on iPad

Hi @Arseny_Trubachev ,

“Canvas Size” as a concept is not present in the iPad app since 2.5 D was removed from this version of the program. At the current time image export size is completely a function of your device’s screen resolution.

However, it is easy to share files between the iPad app and the desktop version of Zbrush. This would give you full access to that program’s advanced export options.

I REALLY like what you’ve don with this app. So much like working on a cintiq.
I have a couple of small suggestions:

  1. The current brush does not always update on click
  2. It would be nice if the save button stayed lit until the process has finished. Feedback that the button has indeed been pressed.

Impressive work porting it to iPad! Looking forward to Zmodeler update.
Keep up the good work of refining it and congrats to the team :+1:
