On page 126 of the practical guide there’s a reference to loading the material Fibers05.zmt. It doesn’t appear to be part of the download and I can’t seem to locate it. Is it available somewhere else perhaps?

Thanks

Thanks alot, this was to good help.

I have the zbrush 2 practical guide,

is it sufficient to learn the interface and basic tools and palettes for zbrush3?

regards
Mark

how du i make sumfing !?!?

It obviously won’t cover anything that’s new in 3.1, and some elements have moved. (For example, the editing brushes from the Transform palette are now in their own Brush palette.) But 3.1’s feature set is built upon ZBrush 2. That means that the principles explained in the Practical Guide do still hold true. It’s a good place to start.

Also don’t forget the ZClassroom and Online Docs

Hi all,I am totally new to ALL this,so any help, info, tips etc,you can give me to help get me started would be greatly appreciated.

I have just started to use ZBrush,so I am still getting used to using its tools.I have been toying around with the demo sculptures, and would appreciate any advice you can give me on painting, skin texturing etc. There seems to be alot involved and to learn.

Thanks.

Have you checked out www.pixologic.com/zclassroom and www.pixologic.com/docs?

also there are allot of great video tutorials on Ryans Blog

Thanks for the help aurick, very useful.

im thrilled to read this Practical Guide! Thanks a lot! :bulb:

On page 113 of the guide, Bamboo Part 2, I’ve activated the Move switch as described, which is supposed to allow moving the Ring3D points around. However, dragging the brush (Draw Size 64 as instructed) doesn’t alter the polygons at all. Obviously doing something wrong, but can’t figure out what. The ring is still in edit mode, set to the Initialize values described.

I’ve revisited this lesson a few times and about to declare defeat and move on to the next. But it’s certainly bugging me! Maybe a sign to move on to the bug creation.

Thanks in advance for help.

…Revisited…I rotated the whole ring and then could see that points had been dragged around. When centered on the canvas, the changes weren’t visible…something to puzzle over. Anyway, I have solved the problem for the Bamboo ring.

However, I’ve drawn the Cylinder3D as described, pressed W to activate Edit Move mode, and other than being able to shorten the ends, can’t move the polygons at all.

Sigh…been here before too. I’d hoped that retrying the tutorial would reveal to me something I’ve missed, but so far I’m still missing it.

Which version of ZBrush are you using? If it’s ZBrush 3 you’ll need to use the Move brush (in the Brush palette) rather than Transform>Move (which is now used in TransPose).

I’m using ZBrush 2…AND…

Furious blushing here. Last night I loaded ZBrush 2 onto my Inspiron laptop and afer reading aurick’s post, decided to attempt the bamboo Cylinder3D again (page 115) on the laptop, initialize as described, then draw it, enter Edit mode, then press W to activate Edit Move mode. To my delight and embarrassment, the bits of cylinder moved as I dragged the brush over them.

Gah. I have no idea what I was doing wrong a gazillion times before. (Eyes the desktop suspiciously.) Thanks for the response, aurick.

Saving up my Lindens from Second Life to afford the upgrade to ZBrush 3, though I suspect my Second Life ZBrush needs are pretty much covered by 2.

hey, after passing through the guide, I didn’t find any parts explaining how I could send models directly out of zbrush to shake. Can anyone help me out? point me in the right direction? thanks
