Where / how do I load custom brushes to load into the custom sub menu?


  1. Pref> Enable custom UI > New Menu 1
  2. Sub MenU> “Brush [ Hard Surface ]”
  3. Lightbox> Brushes > load various brushes to sub menu
  4. Close custom UI
  5. Save Config + save Custom UI
  6. Assign Custom Hotkey “n” to New menu1 + save “Custom hotkeys”

When ZB4 is restarted the brushes placed in the sub menu are not loading.

  1. C:\Program Files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZBrushes
    Lightbox opens these brushes

  2. C:\Program Files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZStartup\BrushPresets
    Only 3 brushes in this folder

  3. C:\Program Files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZData\BrushPresets
    152 brushes

You have to copy any lightbox brushes (which live in the Zbrushes folder) that you want that appear in a custom menu into either Zdata\BrushPresets folder, or (preferably, so you don’t pollute the default brush inventory) to the ZStartUp/BrushPresets folder. This is easily done from the brush menu by loading the Lightbox brush and from the brush menu selecting “Save” and send a copy to either folder mentioned above.

I placed them in: Zdata\BrushPresets
and all the menus are working.
