ZB4 and the mystery of the empty canvas

Hi guys,
please help, because I’m getting crazy!
I’ve saved my tools with three subtools as usual after a sculpting session.
I restart ZBrush, then I load the tool, I draw it onto canvas, but it doesn’t appear!
So I enter in Edit mode, but there’s nothing on canvas, but ZBrush tells me the tool is selected, in edit mode, I can see it in the Tool menu, but the canvas shows nothing!!!
I can tell you two things:

  1. If I use zspheres, they are there, but if I press “A” for preview, the canvas shows nothing, while the little preview in the tool menu shows the final skin
  2. ZBrush works flawlessy before I load the tool I was working on.
I’ve tried to change color, material and both, but nothing onto canvas: all changes are visible in the little tools menu’s preview!

Here’s the manhole, one of subtools, that shows the same effect, but use it at your own risk: MANHOLE tool
Thanks in advance.

Your tool shows up very nicely in my viewport, so I can’t repeat your problem. Very misterious. Did you try >Preference > Init ZBrush.

MacRobi,
could you please be so kind to re-save the tool and to send it to me?
I’m sure there’s something wrong with the tool, I don’t know what I did, I’m looking for something around all menus, but there’s no solution until now!
I think I’ll contact the support team soon if nothing new happens.
Thanks in advance.

You can download it here: Link ,but I think it hasn’t changed at all, because I’m now able to reproduce your problem. When I do exactely what you did, it doesn’t appear in the view as you discribed.

But my usual way to work is the following: I open Lightbox (or rather keep it open) and open the DefaultSpere project. Than I load your tool and everything is fine. I have no idea why it doesn’t work the other way but I can recommend this workflow anyway. It sets a few things up for you and puts the tool with one clik inside your view.

BTW: Your Tool must be cursed. After I tryed your workflow again, opening projects lead to the same results: Nothing is visible. That’s weird. But fortunately after restarting ZBrush everything works fine again. So be sure you restart ZB before you open the Spere Project as starting point.

ehehehe!
Ok, thanks to you, now I know what to write to Pixologic support!
It happens if you choose SimpleBrush as first tool then you load my tool.
It changes the stroke from Dragrect (the default to paint a tool onto canvas) to Freehand, that could be the cause of the bug.
Actually I resaved the tool when it showed by accident, but thanks for your help, the fact to paint and edit a sphere before the tool has been useful.
I hope Pixologic could give an answer.
Thanks again.
I’ll try your tool too.
