ZB4.2: Custom UI Save or CTRL+I doesn't save . Answered.

Hello there,

I’ve customized ZB4 a bit by moving tools around and creating custom palettes, but in ZB4.2 when trying to save a custom UI it just doesn’t save. I am saving over the file manually in the startup folder as well as trying to CTRL + I function to save the Custom UI. I get the message which tells me ZB will use this UI as my startup UI but then it doesn’t ‘remember’ it. Also, I get an error when I go to point at a palette, say ‘tools’ and it comes up with the wrong palette.

I also noticed the screen isn’t properly expanding on startup but instead has to be minimized and maximized again to get it to ‘fit’ my monitor window. I’ve tried a few of the fixes with this included changing my screen resolution as recommended in the FAQ, but no fix. I also tried deleting my existing config but that caused me to have to re-authorize ZB.

Mainly, I’m really interested in getting ZB 4.2 to save my config file so I don’t have to load it manually every time.

Thanks!

Dan

Did you store the Configuration file ‘Ctrl+Shift+I’ ?

See the bottom of the FAQ ListThanks zber2:)

Hi there, I sure did, and I was doing this in ZB4 before ZB4.2 came out so I’ve had a little experience with custom interfaces. Oddly, it seems to be working now after repeated restarts of ZB4.2. Thanks for the quick response! I’ll see if I can get the screen size on launch to behave itself and try the suggestions in the FAQ some more.

Hello, I just read through this post and I am having the same problem. When I start zbrush part of my custom UI is there, but parts are missing. I then have to reload my file and parts are still missing from it. So then I resave and once in awhile it will show other parts and other times it won’t. Thanks

same problem, it wont remember my custom UI. frustrating
I have to go preferences/config/restore custom UI or load UI its just not storing.

idlemind - go here. Scroll to the bottom of the page and download the UIStarter_Z4R2_V1.zsc.zip. Follow the directions on where to put it and then save out your config file. I installed that and now my UI shows up.
