Which version of SubTool Master are you using? Make sure it is the 3.2 version avaliable from the Download Center and that there are no earlier versions installed that might cause a conflict. Also which version of OSX are you using?

Ok seems that I need to update my STM to 3.2 just like you suggested.

BTW I am using snow leopard.

Cheers

OK, that’s great, thanks.

Hi! I experience the exact same problem as Briggs. I have exported my meshes using RiptidePro from Cinema 4D and when I try to load them in Zbrush using “Multi Append” then all my OBJ’s are greyed out? I can still “Multi append” ZTL-files, but not OBJ?

I use Mac, SnowLeopard and Zbrush 3.2. I also use SubtoolMaster 3.2.

Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance!

Well my obj’s are greyed out again I am not sure if this has something to do with the snow leopard 10.6.1 update?

Tennet are you using 10.6.1 OS

It certainly sounds as though this is related to Snow Leopard. We’ll look into this.

Thanks for your prompt reply!

Yes, I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.1 also. Hope this can be fixed soon, thanks!

I couldn’t reproduce this issue in either Snow Leopard 10.6 or the latest upgrade 10.6.2. Could you upgrade to 10.6.2 and tell me if the issue is still there?

Many thanks,

Hi! I installed 10.6.2 this morning and I still get greyed out OBJ’s. Am I doing something wrong? I import the base mesh to the editor and then open Subtool master 3.2 -> Multi Append.

Same here, same problem still. I have done this before soI know I am doing it correctly, it was done on this very computer, lol. As you can see in the beginning of the thread.

The problem. SubTool Master can import OBJ’s exported directly from Zbrush, but it can’t read OBJ’s exported using Riptide Pro. They are greyed out. This might only be an Mac OS issue, and maybe it isn’t an issue for every Mac user either… don’t know. I was in contact with the developer of Riptide Pro and he came to the conclusion that this solves the problem (at least temporary):

1) Open the OBJ-file (exported using Riptide Pro) in a normal text editor. 2) Do nothing. 3) Save (overwrite the file without doing any changes). Vola! Now the files can be imported using Multi Append in SubTool Master. Weird.. but it works. Is this a Zbrush/Snow Leopard thing or why is it like this? He also said that if you compare an OBJ from Zbrush and a Riptide OBJ in a text editor, then you'll see no difference in the information, at least no difference that should make the file unreadable for Zbrush. // tennet

Good job Tennet, thanks for the info

Could you send me an OBJ exported from Riptide so I can try and solve this? I’ll PM you my address.

EDIT: I think it is a Mac issue related to how file formats are specified. There was a similar issue a little while back when Windows saved files all showed up in Mac OSX as ‘Unix executables’.

Thanks,

Sounds like a file type or creator code issue of some sort.

Hi Marcus, Thanks! I have sent you an email with some files for troubleshooting. Hope you can have this issue solved. Many thanks in advance!

Thanks tennet,

I’ll get onto it ASAP!
