ZB 3.x Mac & Power PC Thread

Hi Aurick,

I hope all is well. Is there any plan to have a Power PC version available for Mac users? I read back through the posts and found your note about 3.x being Intel only. I am just curious because I run ZB 3.1 on my Vista machine but I would like to be able to work on my Mac as well.

I just wanted to confirm if I need to purchase an Intel Mac Air laptop and this would be a good excuse

Thanks in advance.

Why are you worrying about a PPC version? IF they even release a ZB3 for Mac chances are BY THEN you will have upgraded to an Intel machine!

I already bought Leopard and it runs fine on my PowerBook. Why should I have to upgrade to an Intel if Maya and ZBrush run fine on it as it is?

Apple no longer supports PPC. It is an orphaned platform. No developer will waste their time.

Wow, I can’t remember the last time Microsoft dropped support for their entire hardware architecture. Where do we recycle our old junk?

This is probably my last Mac actually. I am not keen on purchasing new hardware every two years and spending 3K for a system that I can get in the Windows flavor for 2k less. Besides, can’t you install Mac OS X on just about any PC these days?

Are you kidding me? You ream out all the mac users in the other thread for “bothering Aurick” with this kind of question, but you ask it here in another thread!
Well, I guess it’s always just about you isn’t it?

I was asking about Power PC, homie, not begging for a release date.

Oh, so only you, and you alone can decide which mac questions are deemed appropriate? Is that it?

"…Imagine if Aurick had to post everyday to tell you guys about how the beta testing was going, he wouldn’t be doing anything else…you guys continue to poke and prod him like he’s here to swaddle you."

Those are your words, Mack Daddy.
I’ll tell you what; I’ll answer your question with the same answer you gave someone else in the other forum.

“Cry me a river. Are you trying to tell me that you don’t have access to a PC?”

A) I didn’t ask for the release date because I know that Aurick has already stated that it’s in development.
B) I do have a Vista machine.
C) I am not demanding that he answer and I actually got my answer to the question by another user. So if you’re done yet, we can let this thread go below your precious.

I have to admit, you’re better looking than I thought you’d be.
Remember, you said every time we bother Aurick with a question it just slows down the work on ZBrush, and that he’ll give news of developments when he’s ready. So, why can’t you wait to find out if there is going to be a PPC version - especially when you also have a pc? You can still use ZBrush on your PC, so why should Aurick drop everything to answer your PPC question? Is it an emergency?
Also, you said, since Aurick never promised a release date, that we shouldn’t expect one, right? Did he promise a PPC version? If not, than why are you expecting one? These are your rules - not mine.
According to your viewpoint, you’re slowing down the development of ZBrush for the rest of us.

I actually never said it slowed down the development. I never asked for the release date for the Power PC version I just wanted to know if there would be a Power PC release. I got my answer already so I won’t ask anymore. No, ZB never promised a Power PC version so I guess I’m stuck with my Windows machine until I decide if I want to waste money on a new Mac. I didn’t expect a ZB Power PC Mac release but I made an assumption that Power PC would be supported since Apple is dropping support for Power PC and telling their customers to take a running leap at themselves, I will just use my Power PC for the internetz.

My viewpoint is not what you think it is.

If we were getting regular communication and updates, you and I would not be having this argument right now.
You see my point? Everyone has a different perspective, or position in this situation. I think you’ve been only considering your own position.
Right now, I have an Intel Mac. I just bought an Intel Mac a few months ago because I didn’t know if Pixologic and other software companies would continue to support PPC.
It may be that having to build ZB3 for both Intel Macs and PPCs is why it’s taking so long. I don’t know. This may be the last PPC version of ZBrush, or not, I don’t know that either. Should I take the position that the Intel Mac people are more important than the PPC people? Would that sound fair to you, a PPC guy? Imagine if a ZBrush 3 comes out for Intel Macs first and the PPC people have to wait over a year or so for the PPC version with no word on when it might be released. Does that sound fair to you?
I think the mac user’s concerns for a release date, or a timeframe are justified, even if you don’t.
Look, I really don’t want to argue with you. I just want ZBrush 3 for my mac.

You have a lot of gall :frowning:

just sucks!
As all the other mac threads ones.
Can you guys just stop whining like little girls about actually no thing!?
This is ridiculous, a thread is supposed to be use with sinful information and not this kind of stupid questions!
…
That’s why no one at pixologic look at us in a serious manner.
stop wasting bandwidth with this stuff.
We already got told that the mac version is under development.
so now just wait and stop fooling around like little kids!
It’ll be done when its done.

My words also counts for my self, so I’ll also stop wasting my time in this thread.
