ZB 3.5 works but doesn't exist officially

My ZB 3.5 works alright, I had no problems with installation or activation.
But it doesn’t show up in the Windows startup menu.
In the instructions it said “unzip the file ZBrush3_5.zip and extract it to your programs folder” - and I did that. I put it directly into the programs folder and not inside the pixologic folder, perhaps that’s the problem?

But for Windows ZB 3.5 officially doesn’t exist. There is no entry about it anywhere, not even in the control panel’s tool for adding and removing software.

Besides, the installation didn’t produce an icon or an entry in the software menu. To start it I have to go to the new 3.5 folder and start the exe file.
Am I supposed to create the desktop shortcut myself or did I miss something during installation?

ZBrush 3.5 does not have an installer. This means that no modifications are made to your system’s Registry, which also means that ZBrush will not contribute to the fact that Windows degrades over time.

But it does also mean that you need to create a shortcut yourself. Simply right-click on the ZBrush.exe and choose “Create Shortcut”. Then move that shortcut to your desktop.

You can also just slide the shortcut into your Sart menu.

Ok, thanks.
Just wanted to check if everything is as it is supposed to be.
In case I want to de-install it, I only have to delete the folder?

Correct.

This may seem like a dumb question … but with the other versions, I had the optiion to change my startup file… Like starting up with a smaller tool that is shown…can I still add my own old start up file and if so, where do I put it?

You can still save StartupDocument.zbr to the ZStartup folder. This will save your canvas size, custom light settings and other document-specific stuff.

The startup sphere that you have right now is not able to be changed, though. It’s basically just a placeholder that lets you load or select a new model and be able to start working with it instantly, without having to draw it on the canvas and enter edit mode.

I believe that this will become much more comfortable for people as LightBox moves into its final implementation. If you think about it, LightBox is actually replacing 3.1’s startup screen.
