Zapplink texturing tips?

So i apologize ahead of time if there is in fact a thread concerning this topic, but i have searched for a bit and can’t seem to find what i am looking for, hoping to hear some suggestions. I am trying to find a simple way to have a guideline of what i am painting on my model when using zapplink. Usually when painting a new texture not using Zapplink, i have my UVs and an AO to base it off of, but what are some ways to do this with Zapplink in photoshop on your multiple views?

Example: I am painting in front view, id like to see front view UVs or wireframe while painting or even an AO transfer. I switch to my Right view layer, id like to also view a UV or wireframe guide.

Any ideas, suggestions, tips and/or tricks would be mega helpful for me and anyone else i am sure.

just make a wire frame texture and apply it to your model before going zapplink,and u will see it in your ext app

Yeah ive tried that, i guess its a 3.5 R3 issues with Zapplink? Seems that whenever i use it now, it doesn’t give me a shaded version in a layer, its just my views in photoshop flat lit, nothing else, just my view pure white, no shade, and its just a white silhouette of the model. Am i mistaken? Didn’t the last one give you a shaded version of the model in a layer to use as a guide?

you can also use uvmapper(free) to uv your model,it gives you a wireframe template,just loaded in zbrush as a texture then use zapplink

  1. In your image editor of choice start alt + click on the Layer 1 you want to work on to hide all other layers. Then turn on the visibility for the shading layer directly above it. When done, save your image and return to ZBrush.
Don’t seem to be getting a Shading Layer of the model…Which was there before R3 integrated it into there new zbrush plugins…Anyone still able to help me? I cant seem to get a shading layer anymore with this new version of Zapplink in R3. Everytime I do the same workflow, and my photoshop document opens with my views, still flat color and no Shading layer of the model at all.

Have you stored a Startup Document in Zbrush?
I had all kinds of crazy things happening with Zapplink until
i deleted my Startup Document.Once deleted Zapplink works perfectly.

Thanks Smoke! yeah i ended up doing that my self and it worked. Strange how such a small thing like that would effect it, also realized, deleting wasn’t the only fix, if you just make a new document, and go ahead and start Zapplinking, it will work also, as long as you don’t do it on the same document you start with, strange huh? But yeah, small fix till its fully tweaked imo. Hope Pixologic gets this one. Thanks again
