So I’m running to a bit of a problem, so I’m using Zapplink to help me use Photoshop tools to improve the quality of the characters that I painted. Then I came up with a great idea to copy the reference pictures on to the textured picture. That way I can give the real texture matcap qualities. However the problem that I’m facing is that I can’t copy one layer in to another without putting that copy in to a new layer in photoshop. So next I would naturally merge, But when I do that it breaks the zapplink with photoshop and zbrush, even if I rename the layer the same way the old one was named. So I need to find a way to copy an image from photoshop in to another without creating a layer. Any advice on how to get this done guys
I’m puzzled as to where you are having problems. I can paste an image into the PS document, merge it with Layer 1 and then re-enter ZBrush. The merged layer doesn’t need to be named the same. Can you outline the steps you are taking, preferably with a screenshot or two?
Let me explain what happens to me step by step
- I have a model with a custom matcap and textured in zbrush
- I go to documents - zapplink properties menu, then capture the front and side views of my model
- I press zapplink button and it imports the snapshot and textures in tp photoshop
-
here I can edit it and then I save and when I go back to zbrush a menu asks me to update I accept and it updates just fine.
-
However when I copy the matcap layer paste it in to the texture layer, then merge the 2 or don***8217;t. then save when I go back to zbrush the menu either does not pop up or once it does and I press re-check, nothing gets updated
thanks for your help
Thanks, that’s useful.
Try this:
Supposing you want to add your image to the layer named ‘Front’ :
- Paste your image into the PS document. It creates a new layer.
- Select the Front layer, select all of it (Ctrl+A) and then delete (Backspace).
- Now select all the image layer (Ctrl+A), reselect the Front layer and paste (Ctrl+V). The image should paste as the layer is empty.
- Delete the layer created at (1), save and go back to ZBrush.
Let me know if that works.
Really I spent all day trying to figure it out and all I had to do was delete the old, now I feel silly. Anyways thanks works like a charm
Great.
