ZAppLink - Custom Views Occasionally Corrupted (ANSWERED - Sort of?)

So I’m using ZAppLink to store custom views, and occasionally loading and setting the custom view sets my model upside down and I lose my custon view pose/angle. Which is not cool since other artists are relying on recieving the same views when the model is updated.

Any ideas, suggestions, work arounds etc?

EDIT:

So the deal is, it appears the Views are subtool dependant. When I switched to the top most ZTool, my views loaded properly.

But this doesn’t always seem to fix the problem. Still dealing with corrupt views.

So does any one have any idea why my ZAppLink stored custom views some times wind up flipping my model upside down?

It’s a problem called gimbal lock - when the object gets close to 90 degrees it can flip over. You may find that a better way to store views is using the TimeLine. With that I think you are less likely to encounter the problem:

  1. In the Movie palette TimeLine sub-palette, click Show to show the TimeLine.
  2. Position your model and click on the TimeLine to store the view.
  3. Use the Left and Right Arrows on the keyboard to move between views.

You can save and load the TimeLine through the Movie palette.
