Z4R3 alt key changed?

Hi

Ive installed zbrush Z4R3… and so far its been a total pain in the arse.

can anyone tell me why pressing alt no longer switches between z add and subtract? and please please tell me there is a way to convert it back because by changing it you have just killed my workflow.

if it cant be converted back can someone tell me how to uninstall R3 so I can go back to R2.

it gets worse… look at this

when I use the alt key with the Mpolish brush it dosent switch between add and subtract as it should, but it does enable me to paint black all over everything. handy? no not really, especially as the interface says I have poly paint disabled.

Mine works just fine. ‘Alt’ works as Zsub as it should, even with the mPolish brush. There is a thread at the top of this forum for Questions and Troubleshooting 4R3.

Im glad your not having problems, but that dosent help my case much, because I am…

perhaps someone out there has a solution?

Have you tried resetting all your brushes? I think I’ve had similar problems before and resetting brushes fixed things.

I was merely suggesting that it’s not a bug. I wasn’t being facetious. If you are having problems with ZBrush 4R3, there is a thread at the top of this forum for questions and troubleshooting.

Under the colorpicker field there’s a button called ALTERNATE - if you switch it to off - the ALT function works again.

I had the same issue in ZB4r2 - it only happens with several brushes - don’t have a clue - but when you know about it a simple click solves it.

hope that helped…

This happens to me too so it seems ZBrush strictly obeys the RGB button so if it is on and you are using ZSub (Alt) then you are painting with the secondary color, the default secondary color being black. Change the secondary color to some obnoxious pink and then Alt will paint pink. Most of the brushes have RGB on by default and the default Main Color is white so you never see the polypaint effect in ZAdd since the whole ztool is filled white by default.

[Edit] ViseOne is right…it’s the Alternate button.

thanking you kindly sir
