Sweeeet scene and render! :+1: !

remcv8 - thanks!

invertedNormal - happy for that! Dman3d - glad it helped you! -Storm- - thank you very much Frederik! The truth is,I gave too much attention to that. Now that I 've "mastered":) BPR I 'll put more attention to my my models in my next piece! ior-calin - Thanks, I would like to see it too;) Julian_K - I appreciate it! sleepfight - Glad you like it Samuel. holto - Thank you very much! Yes it would be great. about the scene...I actually modeled more things for this scene (there was a small table with some books and a glass and a clothes pole with a cloth hanged near the door, but the scene was getting to heavy and I decided not to include them.) IcemanJ - Thank you very much! maybe later Etcher - thank you very much Geert!! another render with some variations and additions...wait for the colored one! hope you like it

Haha great stuff, really inspiring! :+1:

again a great render. one thing started to bother me a little on second look. the pose if the right hand resting on the chair. it’s looks a little broken to me how the wrist bends to the side that much.
it even sticks out more to me in contrast to the wonderful pose if the other hand.
hope you don’t mind.

I may have missed the question and or answer, but… How did you composit the layers together in Z-brush? Or were you saying that you just did all the rendering in Z then composite in another?

Thanks

god brush you !

@saveagebliss - page 3 post#32

I love it!! Great character (:

Julian_K - Thanks! To me it doesn’t look so broken:D. I think the perspective distortion, and the proportions exaggerate the hand pose…now it’s too late, I can’t look at it anymore:roll_eyes:

Santis - Thank you!

kilik128 - Thank you very much!

SavageBliss - As Dman3d directed you, Compositing was made in Apple Shake.

YKatz - Thank you very much!

this is the color version, If you like, tell me which one you prefer .B&W or color.

my exploration with this piece has come to it’s end and I hope i didn’t bore you with my character:)

I’m pleased with the result, even if I see possibe improvements in all areas of this piece. I believe that now, I have a good understanding of the nature, limitations, pros and cons of rendering and lighting in Zbrush and how i can better prepare everything for that. So in my next piece I’ll be more relaxed in the creating process and not so hasty to see how it looks…

thanks everybody for the support

and one B&W with different framing and aspect ratio.

I really can’t quite decide between the 2 versions. like both just the same.
it’s a really amazing example for what you can get out of Zbrush rendering.

one question: what exactly where your camera/focal draw settings?

Man this is so awesome, color version somehow seems more complete and it has really nice feel to it.

Great work man!

Hey yiannis t, Awesome job love the proses and how it turned out grate job. I like them both but i find the frame on top corner to be a little distracting on the colored version, not so much in the b&w but still distracting. For some reason my eyes kept going there. I also would recommend you play with the Levels in photoshop i played with it for you a little so you can get visual idea of what i am taking about with this before and after image below. I hope this helps. keep it up :+1:
-Aravindan

How come under the right arm (chair) color look awkward?

Aravindan, over used level to deepen shadows tends to make everything (fried) and single style working method making all 3D rendering the same.

I really enjoyed watching this thread. Great stuff. I like both renders, but If I had to choose I would pick the colored one. The character reminds me of the movie “Coraline”. Was that an inspiration for you?
Was also wondering how you posed this model? Did you rig him or TPMaster
Do You plan on animating him for future use?
Sorry for the 20 questions, just curious.

i love the coloured version, beautifull…i wouldnt even change teh levels to my opinion, it kills teh cartoony feel to my opinion
great work man!!

Julian_K - Thank you very much , I really appreciate the feedback.
Focal angle was 90, the document size was 4k, square that was croped later.

MITrAndir - thanks for your kind words!:) Aravindan - Glad you like it. I don't agree with your color correction, in my monitor looks completely inappropriate. What is your configuration? I wanted a very specific look. I'm on MacOSX 10.5.8 but I gamma balanced my image for Windows gamma (2.2) in mind. I checked my image in three monitors, in a Macbookpro laptop with Mac gamma(1.8) looked a little bit washed out, so it would need a different gamma correction, In my Windows side of my Imac it was too contrasty. With some types of lighting you are on the edge. There are so many variables for color consistency...Operating systems, monitors, calibrated or not, browsers, color profiles...etc and taste of course;) I ll check it in some other configuration in the next couple of days, Thanks. 3dassets - I'm sorry but I don't understand what color you find awkward:o daugaard47 - Thank you for your kind words! glad you liked the color version. I wasn't inspired from "Coraline"(you mean the father?). I made the first sketch a long time ago while on vacations Basically I didn't used any references for that piece and I wouldn't use any "cartoon, stop motion" references, I may used some real person references. This is a character started with a nose:D! although you 're right , there is a resemblance. The stylization (stop motion, printed, hand made feel) came to me as I was experimenting with Z4 beta, so I'm happy it resemble the intended medium. about posing I tested the pose (with with a proper rig in Maya with some reference geometry) and transpose after. I'm not sure about animating, even if i actually made some blendshapes...to be animated i have to retopo and project some stuff. I usually retopologise twice the face, one midways and one for the last mesh that incorporate all of the important wrinkles and has tighter edge loops, for shape consistency. this has a midway topology on the face and hands. abe_Tamazir - Thank you very much. I'm glad you generally like the colored version, cause my lighing tests were going for a contrasty B&W old school lighting, that wasn't easily adjusted for a color version.

sorry for the long post

Thx for the little tutorial.
I try to build this material.
But i have a problem with missing information from your text:

d) In which slot must i paste the FresnelOverlay? In the same slot (here S1) like the Basic Material? Or in S2?

If you have time, I would be grateful to you for help.

Regards

Wonderfull characterdesign and lovely renders! I can see this guy animated

Jakyll - S2 slot is the answer. In the image above step f, it’s visible that S2 slot is selected. in S1 slot I put the basic material. hope that helps

tortilla1 - Thank you very much, I can see him too:lol:

not meaning to be nitpicking, but isn’t that the sss shader in your slot2?
