Thatās sweet! Never thought about using it with Photoshop. Looks like itās time to get one!
Thanks for taking the time to document all of this, Steve! Really great stuff, and super helpful.
@ Spyndel: Thanks, Scott! I really appreciate that and am happy to hear you found the info helpful. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
Thank-you so much for the videos, especially the ones on UV Master. Sooooo informative and exciting to think about. Iāve been working on a project recently and am in the UV creation process. Itās a hateful duty, usually. But, seeing that I can deform the UVās in UVMaster, thereby getting them laid out exactly as I like, I am not dreading the work. Just need to wait for my download.
I actually spent a couple of hours this morning muddling through my usual UV tools (UVMapper and my modeling softwaresā UV functions), but was only marginally happy with the results.
I used Lightwave for years, but rarely get into it now because I had trouble finding others that used it. Nice to see someone else now. Wish Iād found you before
@ Slosh: Youāre welcome! Iām really happy to hear the UV Master videos helped you out. You should be able to do almost everything described in the UV videos using ZBrush 3.5. (I just tested out the polypainting trick and it worked in 3.5 without a hitch.) Give it a shot while youāre waiting for 4.0 and if you run into troubles, let me know.
I noticed youāre in Pinellas Park. If you ever make your way over to Orlando, give me a shout!
Will do. Iāve got friends and family, both, in the Orlando area. Havenāt been there in quite some time, though. They usually come here. I just got my ZB4 email, but ran into a snag where they are going to manually verify my info or something like that before sending my download link, so have to wait a couple more hours to proceed. Iāll just wait until then to try it.
Congratulations Steve
thats really really good
Great work Steve! Very good presentation of whatās new in Zbrush 4. I especially liked your two vids on UV master and how it can be used as a texturing tool. I donāt think many people realized this when the plugin came out, so hopefully more people check out the great tut you made and can start thinking more outside of the box with Zbrush
It was fun watching your progression throughout the beta. The final model just blows me away!
For example, I already have clean vector 3-views. I would like to be able to import alphas from my source files and import them into the x, y, x planes in shadow box?
just wanted to say thank you for a very detailed explanation of what you did. This will probably be my main reference for work with shadowbox.
@ Gilles: Thanks man!
@ Plunq: Thank you for the kind words, Joel! You are an exceptional artist and I am humbled that you like the work I did. It was an honor to get to know you and during the beta and I will be looking forward to seeing more amazing work from you!
@ vchmiele: Yes! Sort of. The Shadowbox can have UV textures. (Load one of the ones in the Lightbox | Tool menu.) You can map your vector art onto these in a program like Photoshop. Then apply the image in ZBrush in the Texture menu and use the Mask by Intensity option (in the Mask menu). The image will be transferred to a mask and the mask will produce Shadowbox geometry. Let me know if that works for you.
@ crumbaker: Thank you for those kind words! Iām very happy to hear you found the Step-by-Step useful. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
Simply awesome man
WOW Steve ā¦you have given so much to us⦠thanks!!!
My thanks!!!
Not for just the image.
But for one of the best laid out, most informative tester images.
Superb job!!!
One I am sure will be viewed and learnt from again and again.
@ vedanta: Youāre very welcome!
@ bicc39: Wow! Thank you for the very kind words! Iām very happy to hear that the info I put together is being found helpful. Cheers!
Hi Steve,
Iām trying to work out a flow for exporting animation from LW into Zbrush for tweaking and getting it back to LW, although without much success. You mentioned you imported Zbrush generated mddās into LW for testing, but when I tried to import it i got no deformations whatsoever.
Any chance you explain how you got them in LW?
Thanks a lot,
Vojislav Milanovic
