Z3 render problems

Hello,

I have only really had one issue with Zbrush 3 that I don’t understand, it is the render issue with certain materials. I knew it affected Matcap materials, but recently I tried to copy over the Antropus quad-shader so I could get a good skin shader to work from. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/picasso/tutorial.htm

The problems I am having is the material is acting alot like a Matcap material when rendered, and since quad shaders are differnt from Z2 to Z3 I can’t get the settings right to copy over Antropus’.

heres a pic of the unrendered face I’m working on.

So would you suggest not to even bother rendering in Z3 since its got this issue with materials, or is there a fix. Does anyone know the correct settings to get Antropus’ looking like it does in Z2?

You need to adjust the Light settings.

Make sure that ZMode is turned on.
Increase the number of rays.
Decrease the Aperture proportionally.
Probably increase the shadow length as well.

Then do a Best render with Render>Shadows active.

If you continue to have trouble, could you share the material?

Just to add to what Aurick said about the light settings with Antropus’ skin material…he included a light setup that went with that skin mat. I use the 2 together often in ZB3 and it works nicely. Check the thread again where you downloaded the skin mat…

thanks,

the model looks alot better with the new settings.
