Hi guys, here is a video of my very first 3D model.
It’s not only my first ZBrush model, it’s my first 3D ever.

Hello… i’ve been working on this for a couple of months(i know, lame) in my spare time but i’m trying to step on it this week… let me know what you think…
thanks

Svet,

I swear I typed a response to this earlier. The server must have eaten it.

Anyway, I’m jealous that you were able to capture your first 3D work, let alone your first ZBrush one, on video. It’s going to be amazing in a few months to look back and see how far you’ve come.

MonicaM,

  1. Speed comes with practice, and there is nothing lame about having the discipline to stick with a project for that long.

  2. Photobucket hosts video now? Sweet.

  3. When you have an open hole in your model, look in the Tool Pallette for the Display Properties section, and press the Double button within that. The inside of your model becomes visible through those gaps, which helps you visualize the overall form as you rotate about, and also makes your turnaround renders that much cooler-looking.

thanks so Much Aaron

Hi, I’ve done my Video Channel at Youtube, so if someone want to take a look or subscribe:

http://www.youtube.com/sergiossn

If the ppl who upload videos do this kind of channels we don’t have to post every single movie that we do… everything would be in the channel itself.

It’s just a suggestion.

Hey man, thanks a lot for your kind words!
If you too are new to 3D (like I am), I can share with you my cheap tricks for achieving moderately good beginner results.
For capturing a video of your ZBrush model, use the Movie drop down menu on the top of ZBrush. Then use the Turntable button and tweak the settings - frames per second, etc. It is pretty automated and I loved it for being so easy.

Here is another Movie of another model I recently made: MOVIE
And here is the original file in better quality with the textures being more visible: HQ MOVIE

Thanks!

hey, im making a movie for pal 720x576 . should i render out a zbrush movie at that resolution or should i double it? Also how should i take into consideration the picture/pixel ratio?

in the Movie pallette, the Doc/Window setting defaults to “Doc”, which means your movies size is determined by the size of your canvas. If you set it to “Window”, it will expand to include the ZBrush interface. the “Auto Zoom” button will make that less predictable.

Large/Medium/Small setting defaults to “Medium”. Which means that, yes, your resolution is cut in half. Setting it to “Large” will match what you’re seeing exactly, including jagged edges.

Doubling the resolution and leaving it at Medium will give you a very nice look, but if you’re planning to integrate this with other footage, the anti-aliasing that results can interfere with your ability to chroma-key. At that point, you’re probably better off doubling the resolution and leaving it at “Large”, establishing your alpha masks, and then scaling down in your compositing software.

A huge canvas will, of course, draw increased resources and affect performance accordingly. Experiment with short clips, figure out what you can live with. And post the results! I’m very curious where you’re going with this.

Thanks CTL-Z, its lookin good. With alittle tweeking Zbrush renders can look really great for the render time taken. I hope Zbrush team work on adding more final rendering options in later releases, could easily give other renderes the fear, mainly for the ease of it all. Esepcially as i see the rest of my team wrangling with Mental ray and its anomolies.

Ill post my final Movie here next week for your viewing pleasure

Seems odd that the record function doesnt go to 25 fps… is there a specific reason for this? is there any way i can replicate 25fps in zbrush or am i doomed to have a juttering movie? ive got my spin frames turned right up and still its not smooth enough.

I recently had an artist ask how I would approach making skin pores for a character inside of ZBrush.

I put together a very quick video (02:23) to demonstrate how to do this.
You can take a look at the video here:

Thanks,

I have had a few people request a video on how to project detail and color from a hi res mesh onto a resurfaced mesh.

I had some time today to put together a video on this.
