Z2 geometric shapes? aminuts info and way to do it.

Z2 comes with some geometric forms for painting and sculpting. Question and help on other geometric forms whether a ZPLUGIN, ztl’s, zscripts or obj’s that can work with Z2 that do not distort with polymesh and multi-divides. Brief list of the types of geometric shapes:

The Plantonic Solids

Archimedean and Catalan Solids

Kepler - Poinsot Solids

Prisms, Antiprisms and their Duals

Uniform / Dual Polyhedra

Stellated Polyhedra

I got Bryce 5 out and exported a Dodecahedron but could only get it up to 60 polys - not enough to detail on
Lightwave users of Z2
“Lightwave comes with a Platonic Solids macro that lets us create both the icosahedron and the dodecahedron”
can you make hi-res poly Dodecahedrons with this app.?

wings has a few have ya tried those?

Thanks aminuts
I downloaded Wings3d and checking it out

First - Thanks aminuts for your post.
I got the dodecahedron exported out of Wings3d. Picture of it in Z2 - can not add detail in edit draw

aminuts thanks again for the Wings3d info. I needed to add hard edges and smooth several times in Wings3d. Some Wings3d people gave me help with making the hard edges in Wings3d - you are correct Wings3d has some more of The Plantonic Solids

I then imported the object into Z2 and did a make polymesh3d and 2 geometry divides and added detail in edit draw and ProjectionMaster - I’m on laptop only 256megs - should be able to geometry divide a few times more on the desk top as it has 1.5gigs

Thanks aminuts:D

Your welcome Spaceman!

Remember you can add creases in zbrush! I tried the dodecahedron, creased all the edges at 2 which gave me softer edges after two subd’s…at about 4 or 5 had a nice shape for a basic head to play with hahaha so what if the topology is all wrong…was fun to play with.

remember you can set the creases to stay hard thru all subd’s or soften after whatever level you want for some interesting effects!

oops wanted to add that somewhere on the net

someone had posted up models of different gem cuts that you mind find interesting. Sorry I don’t have the link on this computer for you to find it. I think they were in dxf form so if you find em you can import them to zb but make sure you use polymesh tool and the import settings weld and tris2quad otherwise you might have some exploding gems on subd.
