I have scoured the documentation which tells me that to make the ZSphere and the connector the same size I am to click/drag a little/press Ctrl and drag some more. The problem is that when I do that it doesn’t work, the connector gets huge at the start point. I have tried every subtle nuance I can conceive of but no it doesn’t work.
Am I missing something really simple?
Any help truly appreciated.

After you draw the ZSphere, without letting go of LMB, press Shift which will make the new one the same size as previous one and, without letting go of Shift, press Ctrl to move it. Once you start moving it, you can let go Shift.
note: Shift+Ctrl isn’t really effective for moving it depending on what angle your on and how far you are zoomed out because it moves the zsphere perpendicular to where it was drawn. I always find it easier to just switch to Move (W) transform to move the zsphere. The idea above is mainly to keep all the ZSpheres the same size.
