z modeler pull a single polygon from edge.

Is there a way to qmesh or extrude a single edge of a four sided polygon just like you can qmesh or extrude a face?
I want to pull out another single polygon face from the first one and so on to make a simple strap without zmodeler wanting to make it a boxy 3d volume.
Thanks, Bud.

There is already an extrude edge in zmodeler, but it doesn’t do what you want, something that probably you are aware.

In general Zmodeler focus in solids and has few tools for bidimensional modeling, with some exceptions as using ctrl with qmesh in a face. I don’t think you can extrude bidimensionally an edge. At least I have tried and I was not able to do it.

The only workaround that I found is to qmesh the flat polygons, do the extrusions of the edge but as a normal qmesh and then delete the extra geometry, that will have polygroups for easy identification. But that is not a elegant way of working. I would love if somebody suggests anything better.

If the object is 100% flat and bidimensional you could use edit topology over a flat plane as support. But this is again a not nice way of working and I had lots of problems with edit topology and zmodeler working together.

Thanks I thought I was crazy, I think this would be a helpful addition so that you can model thin geometry then use the qmesh options to thicken the geometry. Also I would like to be able to snap the thin mesh onto an existing scan or mesh for now I
can use project all i guess.
