This is very nice work.

The one thing I would suggest is its a bit symetrical, id break some of it up a bit more. you do have a-symetrical details and things. but some of the subbtle forms id switch it up a bit. even the ears, change the shape of one slightly.

great work,

I agree with Vincent, but anyway interesting work.
Kep posting any update, Arturo

Very good work!I aspect a texture!
:+1: :+1:

Very smooth wrinkles…cool!

Yeah, well since ZBrush is so sculptural asymmetry is a bit of a buzzword in the forusm today. I’m not against it, but I don’t know if you are that far along yet either.

I keep meaning to tackle wrinkles a bit more seriously. What sort of references are you working from? Can you tell me a little bit about your thought process and what is guiding you to age this character as you have?

Also, where do you think you will go from here?

I think that a lot of people use an approach to wrinkles that involves painting hairlines in projection master and then using inflate to build up around the creases and make them more pronounced by contrast and the squeezing in effect that inflate has around a depressed area. The insane detailers then go on to add beard stubble, poc-marks and pores.

What it seems that you have done though is more a matter of sculpting by pressing in and pushing out. It could be your lighting and material, but I’m seing more of a smooth surface at this point, rather than the hairline cracks. Is there anything you can put into words about what you learned so far from this work? How do you think you would begin differently next time?

This is very good, and I’m hoping to try someting in this direction one day. Thank you for sharing.

Really cool!
A bit intense on wrinkle, mybe try a flatter material to atenuate it.
You can use a smaller brush tp do finer details in forehead…
Nice job!

VVDFX, I agree… I don’t think I’ll do that to this guy.
He was just a doodle. Still trying to get the program to do what I want it to do.
So I’m mainly working on the learning and adapting it to fit my needs.
But you are 100% correct.

DHARMAESTUDIO, Legal Arturo, Thanks for the the compliment… Ate mais.

gega74, Sorry not this guy, he was just for fun. pride, Thanks a little too smooth right now. Perhaps a combinaton of this with PM. I sense an experiment coming on :D

Wildsketch, In total I’ve got maybe 1 hour in this head… not really too invested in it. As for my process… Coming Soon!
I’m working on something that will hopefully help explain my process for creating wrinkles.
It’s very fast and I think everyone will hopefully benefit from the process.
All be it… the wrinkles is only one part of it.
But you are very observant, Yes no PM on this.
All sculpting… I suppose I was going for more of a fine art approach.
I’m still trying to figure out a process that will allow me to squeeze the roundness out of some of the forms. I’ll figure it out sooner or later.
I want to get more of the crisp edges in.
Any thoughts Sebcesoir you’re the master…

Sebcesoir, I’ll try the material out… You’re talking about PM, “brushes”.
None of this was done using PM, any suggestions on using PM to create the crisp edges I’m looking for?

Sweet Cesar!! I especially love those wrinkles that flow into the neck, they look so natural. Are the eyes seperate or part of the mesh? I really like how deep they look. And this guy looks very sad… maybe hes sad because he’s so old :stuck_out_tongue:

Metric, Thanks man. the eyes are indeed separate.
I used the same fine art method that I describe in the tutorial in the other thread.
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=33221&page=2&pp=15Hey
Although this time I did it in Z-brush and didn’t create the highlight.
Sad… I suppose that’s how I was feeling the day I built him.
I was sad cause I couldn’t get the result I wanted.
But I feel much better now
I think I now know what I need to do to finish him.

I want to take this moment to thank everyone who e-mailed me.
WOW! Your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. :+1:
It’s nice that people are enjoying my work.
But don’t be afraid to post on here.
We are all students of life and I have just as much to learn as anyone here.
Believe me I do not take any of your suggestion lightly and every single one of them
is worth it’s weight in gold for me.
After all, I cannot see it with your eyes. Only you can do that.
This is an amazing forum that brings people from all over the world and all walks of life
together to share their experiences and knowledge.
From young to mature, professional to amateur.
We are all extremely lucky and I am humbled by all the amazing work I see on here.
For those of you who asked that I continue…
You got it.
Thanks again.

I like your model… great work:cool:

I love your attitude and I totally agree with you voodoomonkey.

Hey Voodoo,

We keep on bumping on each other in different threads, so I decided to bump in to you frontally

Awesome work, really like the character -reminds me of a basset hound kinda character- …ok, time to take my antipsychotic medicine

The only thing that kinda bothers me is the wrinkles around the upper part of the nose, which are generally associated with certain gestures and it seems like this guy’s in a neutral mode.
Anyway, that’s my observation

Speaking about wrinkles -might help you

Hope to see more about this guy
