Rhhaaa Moni!
Too many characters is too expensive for a project and finally i was thinking do i really need twin sisters? no.
But i will pose LINE render her as soon as i can.
I continue my tour of Paintstop. Really it is a good surprise!! the tool follows all the subtleties of my pen on the wacom. It brings a lot of very good variations with the same tool. I have the feeling that I am going to continue drawing a lot with this tool!!
I love the oil painting tool with the dry paintbrush. Feelings are very close to a pen brush Pentel. For those who know I can only recommend you to try!!
Besides, here is another Martin’s sketch version 70’ s. Farewell the hat and now he has brown hairs! I kept the leather jacket but I added the toupee around the neck style aviator’s jacket. I kept badges hung on the front for you Disco ;).
hope you’ll like him like that!

Nice feel, it does look a bit like Pentel pen brush (which is great).
Well for 60 70´s you had to change the design.
The old one was looking very 2009 Strokes fanboy with ultra slim jeans^^.
I guess they had buttons back then but youll have to change the motives too
woodstock and the beatles:D
Hahaha no my concern was to bring my characters in a period without cell phones but with old buses (the one you saw few months ago), cars… during the 70’s people weren’t crazy of taking the plane too… so for my road movie it makes sense
Very nice design Yona, looks like his hair gonna be a challenge to sculpt.
you’re right!!!
i will have to make several subtools i think
Hey Céd, sweeeeet PaintStop scetches! I’m glad you’re feeling comfortable working with PaintStop - I had the same pleasant suprise!
Great to see the updated character and to read a bit as to why you’re making some changes! !
Hello guys!
After the parenthesis of CGCOACH contest, I come back on my project TRAVEL TO MAMA… What is nice, it is that I began this project at the same time as my study on Zbrush.
So this contest allowed not only to learn new techniques but also to take detachment with the TTM’s project. So, i did again a small turn on all my characters to see what was good and what was wrong.
MIA: I am going to modify the form of the face and of her nose. I am also going to work again on hairs and modify her glasses by remodeling them under XSI. All these modifications are made to come back to a 2D approach. She was a bit too realistic for me.
GUIDO: I am going to change his glasses too because i’ve sculpted everything in one block on their sides (what is wrong with me? :D) the same thing for the belt for the same reasons. I am also going to add shoelaces with small details on his boots.
ENZO: i like him like that, except for the belt which is made in one block too (argh not good at all…)
MAMY: I need your help on this one. I do not know how to make a nice straw hat. I was thinking of making 2 alphas. one alpha for the top and one other circular for the low part? If you have something in mind, please help me!
Well that’s it!
i’m also working on MARTIN’s model sheet that i will post in the next few days.
See you soon and i hope that you will be able to help me for GRAND MA’S hat…
Beautiful work Yona, and great to see all your notes…they’re very instructive and are making me think about how I should tackle my own problems
Love the Ghibli / anime style, look forward to seeing how the project turns out!!!small_orange_diamond

On the hat: if you can find a real one, you could make a scan of the circular part and use that to create an alpha, not sure how to do the top part though .
Cool to see you are still going! The proportions of grandma and elvis are hilarious! Great work!
Thank you guys!
thanks Etcher that’s what i had in mind but i have to find the solution for the top… i’ve something in mind but not the time to try it…
Hi Yona, taking a break does help to focus sometimes.
I loooove that granma and dog, that’s such a fun group.
For the straw hat, yes you need a nice alpha but you could try by applying a mask in Photoshop (though Zapplink) either using a real straw hat texture as an alpha or a custom made alpha and then back with the mask in Zbrush deform the masked area on a layer either with deformation of with a brush.
In that way you can the a whole surface quite neatly.
Hi guys
I was a bit busy for the past weeks but here’s the making of my LITTLE NIGHT MAKER that i did for the CGCOACH CONTEST won by Goldo_O with his marvellous Kentor!

Hi Yona, I love this making of, it’s very clearly laid out and it does give you the feel of the huge amount of work that’s gone into this model.
Lovely initial sketches by the way, I hadn’t seen those.
And the comix strip for your wife is brilliant, much better than flowers. Hope she’s not so mad at you now.
