yet another goblin... sigh... :S

Jais, Really nice goblin. The detialing is nice and the fact that he isn’t symmetrical makes him that much better…

Dickie

Hmmm… Not too sure if I’m going the right direction. But it’s been a little while since I last took some time to develop him.
I know not to much happened since last post but what the heck.
I want to show you guys the steps I take on the way.

Really this is up there!Fantastic Goblin and the texture is looking great.I think the previous renders look has a better suit for the type of character,a little shiney.Well just one question, what are you rendering with?and if thats zb can you teach us!Looking forward to watching this ,thanks cal

Hey Calum5ZB >> Thanks! Looking at your site I don’t really see how I could teach you anything  Very interesting stuff you have there.
My goblin is rendered in zbrush (have a feeling its going to be really hard to get that look in my native package).
I used a GI light setup and a clay skin material that I slighty tweaked.
Both found on this forum.
Will find the details and links for you once i get home.
I think another thing is that I have exaggerated the contrast when i painted the texture (with the highlighter brush) so that it didnt get too washed out by the skin sss.

Hi again JaisJust a thanks for popping by and for pulling my leg lol.
I have both light and materials you talk of but they dont seem to render so good for me.I’ll play with the settings and see what comes.:+1: Looks like a high powered renderer to me…:warning:
O.k
See ya,
Cheers,cal:red_circle:

Ok. So a little more playing around with lights and materials.
Have also photoshopped in some teeth to see how it looks.
Think its moving more towards what i imagined from the start.
So now I’m moving on to the props and the body.
goblin18b.jpg

I like this little guy a lot, but about the purple coloration around his eye. I think it would look better if it was around both eyes. I don’t think the extra emphasize on the larger eye is necessary. Just a suggestion, keep it up. :+1:

Black Crane>> Thanks. I’ll put purple around both¨. :+1:

Calum>> Didn’t see your reply yesterday.
But I’ll upload the materials and lightings in this thread later.
Hope I can remember where i took them from and greet the ones who deserves it.
Even tho I tweaked them some.
But also remember that the texture itself has a lot to say. Its colour in relation to the colour of the light.

getting better and better, looks good to me:+1:

very nice !!!

Heye, he’s looking really great, Jais :+1:

Maybe a bit late as I was going to post these here yesterday, but some tired’
& red-rimmed eye reference for you here (Note: NOT for the squeamish!):

cheers

Chris

Erklaerbar>> thanks for the encouragement. Will try and push it more with props and an enviornment and a cool pose.

Mundooposto>> cheers.

Atwooki>> Very cool ref dude. Think I’ll go for a pale subtle Katarakt(:eye illness/blindness) look with the iris. But I’ll defenetly try all of them out in PS before taking the 3d step.
Thanks a lot.

Moving on to texturing the body.

I definetly really like the latest route youve gone with the texturing. The head looks really good imo. The body right now feels too lanky for his head for me. Such a massive neck, yet such small shoulders. I really like where its heading though gonna keep an eye on it.

I like this critter, nice progress.

Great stuff, he needs to put some pants on . Keep it up! :+1:

The texturing is top notch. Can you give a little insight onto how it was created. Good stuff.

Great character, i am in love with the textures, is there pherhaps a collor sheme that shows what is changing with the surface scatter renders, could you tell somthing more about it?

He is awesome, love the texture and his great expression.

Thanks for all the input. Really gets me going.

cspalak>> I see your point, so I tryed to push the body more to corrospond more to his facial expression (a mean little guy). Also tried to suck in the neck a little.

Jason Belec>> Thanks. More process to come.

Black Crane>> He is defenately going to wear a diper. :))

Skuby>> The texture is created from a snake skin as a base, then another spot texture was painted on top with the antropus technique where you drag the texture on to model in PM with a 3d plane and rgb 20-30 intensity to fix the seams and give it diversity. Then I handpainted all the darker and lighter areas with a small size highlighter brush to break it up. I exaggurated it so the material and the light wouldn’t suck it all up.

Joep>> I’m not sure how you want me to show you that. Can you be more specifik

Storm>> Thanks :))

Here is the material and lighting I used.
Its taken from the forum and then tweaked.
I’m really sorry but I cant remember who I took it from. I know. Bad Karma.
If someone can see it from the files please post who it is.
Anyways here it is.
