like your style!
in which resolution you render the image?

Ralf Stumpf

Great! Again… and so fast… Who will stop him!

Real nice z sculpt:+1:

Ahhhh Jantim, the material and junk heap master of the universe, I can think of no better use for a Vespa than the one you have shown here!!!

Love the armored tank feet! What fun you must be having!

Very good thread, you are revolutioning the animal world :+1:

One question about the workflow: for building your animal you put in background a mesh lik a guidelineof the animal and then in another layer you “snap” over the different mesh, or you do this starting directly with the various mesh?

To answer some questions: I render at 1280 x 960 and scale the image to 60%
with soft-Z, black fog,Depht cue and sometimes supersample.
I had not great succes with supersample, the objects get a thin grey line at the edges and if you use it with soft-rgb it produces Zdepht distortions…i mean
grey background with gridlike blacklines…it also alters the look of the material !
I use a lowpoly model for the " scrap" to orient itself onto…this can be a basic
model but it works best if it contains some “bulk” to give the model more mass !
The renders take 30 minutes…thats all folks:)

Very nice image, I like very much
Seems you got a great theme going here, keep up the great work.

This is a close-up of a render with supersample set on 2rhinoclose.jpg

Bravo ! :+1:
Continue the serial

Ps You are a son of Arman the king of accumulation

Hi jantim, I really love to look at this stuff, but can’t figure how you made some of the models in the picture like the tank treads, truck cabs, etc. Are these imports? 50.

Frenchy Pilou, you must be the king of web-searchers…again you provide inspiration:cool:
Rich…as a real (s)crap-artist i collect polymeshes to make my art…it would take to long to make all these tanks, cars, etc…besides the web is filled with free models…can’t let good scrap go to waste:lol:
The real fun part is assembling the “right” meshes for the final piece…in case of the rhino alot of military stuff.

jantim

Jamtim, everytime I visit ZBC I usually stop by iether your Camel or Rhino thread because I always seem to finding something new and interesting in the scrap heaps that you’ve posed as animals.
I think your latest improvment of the rhino image is exellent but it still lacks the atmosphere from the Camel image. Maybe again a sky and some reflections on the metal?
I think you’ve also improved your placement and selection of scraps in the Rhino image.

Thankyou for sharing your work, I enjoy viewing it every time:)

…this crazzy guy
Jacques Poirier
(you can click on the up Menu for more Poirier paintings:)
Some of his painting are like you : some accumulate !
But the more crazzy is that ; before each painting he makes a real model
Pilou

Frenchy, that is a truly interesting fellow, that Jacques Poirier:+1: :+1: :+1:
And i have always wanted to make stilllife pictures with a " twist" .
Kircho, thank you…i agree with you abouth the lack of atmosphere
in the rhino picture, i think its a combination of : not using perspective and he angle of the picture, i made the rhino first, then had a hell of a time trying to position a groundplane under the rhono’s feet, i could not get the (Z) depht right so i had to improvise.I have great problems in Zbrush when i try to do a scene in a traditional 3D way: infinite groundplane and objects on top and well grounded on that plane , Most of the impressive renders from big artists in Zbrush work with halfshots, i think to prevent such problems…?
Also the rhino is posed static, it would have been better with his head cocked to a side and and with some movement in the body…the static pose worked for the camel because of the renderangle with the sky and the fact that a camel is often presented as a static and rigid animal in other pictures…at least that’s my theory

See this thread of Meast Meier, my question, and as me wait the answer of Meats
Pilou

I just discovered the use of fogimages…kinda late
It is just perfect for this rendering…it blends the debris on the groundplane into the scene in a good way, i had to tweak the channel a bit in order not to “lose” one of the rhino’s legs in the fog .
Here’s the rendering:
